Review: 40675 Clone Commander Cody
Posted by CapnRex101,Commander Cody has received some attention recently, between his minifigure in 75337 AT-TE Walker and the lovely 75350 Clone Commander Cody Helmet last year. 2024 has introduced the commander in BrickHeadz form.
40675 Clone Commander Cody definitely looks good and Cody's vibrant armour bodes well for an interesting figure.

Commander Cody works nicely as a BrickHeadz figure, but could be even better
- Attractive colour scheme
- Detailed helmet design
- Fun holoprojector accessory
- Not very innovative
- Lacks a jetpack
The Completed Model
A few years have passed since LEGO last attempted a Clone Trooper or Stormtrooper in the BrickHeadz range, so I expected some major updates. However, this model is quite similar to 41620 Stormtrooper, especially around the helmet. That is no bad thing though, as the general shape is recognisable and the figure is not excessively reliant on printed elements.
The decorated parts forming the mouth and vents on either side look excellent. Similarly, the lenses and circular details on Cody's chin are accurate and all these features are shared with 41620 Stormtrooper. The visor and stripes on top are distinctive though, as are the many small accessories attached to the helmet, including antennas on both temples and a grey spotlight.
Moreover, I like the asymmetrical colours on the belt, while the printed orange stripes and rank indicator correspond with the onscreen character. The orange knee pads are perfect too, again showing great attention to detail.
The back is disappointing by comparison. Commander Cody's jetpack is a memorable feature, but is seemingly omitted, as I think the light bluish grey 1x2 ingot is supposed to represent the textured back plate worn by most Clone Troopers. In addition, the pouches on his back should be grey rather than orange.
While some details could be better, Commander Cody's accessories are faultless. The rifle in one hand is fine, but more notable is the holoprojector pictured below, so the commander can receive Order 66! This is obviously very simple, but I think it works with the style of BrickHeadz.
Overall
40675 Clone Commander Cody is an appealing choice for a BrickHeadz figure and I think the design is well executed, on the whole. The orange highlights are striking and I like the various accessories clipped to the helmet, which should distinguish Commander Cody from any future Clone Trooper BrickHeadz.
That being said, this model is quite simple relative to the likes of 40539 Ahsoka Tano and the outstanding 40615 Tusken Raider, more so than I expected. Its vibrant colour scheme stands out though and I am pretty satisfied with this rendition of Commander Cody.

Great.
Now, I want an orange sherbert ice cream cone.
Almost had a heart attack when the notification came through, I thought that Cody was getting the microfighter treatment for a second!
That printed slope on the side of his helmet is going to make some Space-fans very happy. Oh look, we got some love late in the fabled Year of Space, after all!
What are those things between his back pouches? His buttocks?

It's meant to be something cylindrical on his utility belt.

On Stormtroopers this is a thermal detonator.

A roll of white duct tape split in two?
Better late than never - guessing Lego didn't provide you this one
I just can't get past the 1x4 tile on the front of his visor. I know his visor is supposed to slope quite steeply down, but the tile is just too big and flat.
I also think there's too much going on with all the bells and whistles attached to his armour
"Commander Cody. The time has come. Execute order 66"
- One of the most iconic lines of the prequels.
When this set was first announced, people were complaining that it didn't have one of those "hologram" microfigs, but just a transparent 1x1 round plate.. But upon reflection, one of those would look sort of jarring next to such a heavily stylized figure.

How about a bowl of orange-vanilla swirl ice cream?

The summary box says if the set is provided by Lego, and this one doesn't say that. The review also doesn't have the "Sponsored" tag.

That's what I meant. Brain freeze. Up writing before coffee and brain turned on. Thanks.
He flies now? If Commander Cody has a jetpack, it's not in the film, which this is based on.

Yeah, was going to say he doesn't have a jetpack because they don't fly now....

Yes it is. The device on Commander Cody's back is a jetpack: https://images.brickset.com/news/114985_Cody%20Jetpack.jpg
It would have been absolutely INSANE if this had been paired with a regular 212th trooper Brickheadz…*false helmet advertising intensifies*
On second thought, an Obi-Wan would work as well…
