Hasn't aged the best, but looks like a fun playset. I remember seeing this back in the day, but it was definitely overshadowed by the epic 2507 Fire Temple.

"Long before time had a name, Ninjago was created by the First Spinjitzu Master, using the Four Weapons of Spinjitzu. The Scythe of Quakes, the Nunchucks of Lightning, the Shurikens of Ice and the Sword of Fire. Weapons so powerful, no one can handle all of their power at once! When he passed away, his two sons swore to protect them, but the oldest was consumed by darkness and wanted to possess them. A battle between brothers broke out, and the oldest was struck down and banished to the Underworld. Peace returned, and the younger brother hid the weapons, but knowing his older brother's relentless ambition for power, he placed a guardian to protect them. And for fear of his own demise, a map for an honest man to hide. That honest man was your father. The older brother is Lord Garmadon, and I... need to find those weapons before he does."

What? Just because I prefer Chima doesn't mean I'm uncultured

By in United States,

Probably the weakest set entry in the 2011 Ninjago line (Spinners not included). It looks nothing like the actual shop, but then does any Ninjago build look the same to the show?

How can you prefer Chima over the masterpiece that Ninjago is. Yes, it has it's bad seasons, but so does just about every TV show.

I feel like I bought this set, but I can't remember why. I thought maybe it was for the dragon sword, but it doesn't appear to be in this set.

Ray was once the Elemental Master of Fire, and helped Wu and Garmadon during the Serpentine War.

He was a master blacksmith, so when the Twin Elemental Masters of Time, Acronix and Crux, attempted to betray the other Elemental Masters he and his wife Maya forged the four Time Blades to steal their powers over time and stop them. The fight took an unexpected turn, and both the Time Twins and their Blades were sucked into a vortex that scattered them across time.

In the coming years Ray and Maya would settle down in the quiet village of Ignacia. There he would found the Four Weapons Blacksmith, and the two would have two children, Kai and Nya.

When Lord Garmadon fell to evil and attempted to steal the Four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu, Wu was forced to cast him into the Underworld. Wu then hid the Golden Weapons, placing a Dragon guardian with each. He drew a map toward these locations and entrusted it to Ray, who hid it in the shop's rafters (which is also where it go it's name.)

Some time after this Ray and Maya were kidnapped by Krux, who had escaped the time vortex and wanted revenge. He imprisoned the two and Kai and Nya were forced to take up blacksmithing to fend for themselves and run the shop.

Eventually the time came for Garmadon to send his forces to the surface and retrieve the weapons. The Skulkin army attacked the blacksmith, and both stole the map and kidnapped Nya. Kai agreed to become a ninja in training under Master Wu in order to get her back.

The blacksmith would be irrelevant for the show for many of its later adventures, until Season 7. This season had Kai and Nya learn of the Time Twins and that their parents were still alive. They returned to the blacksmith to recover a secret weapon hidden within it, the Dragon Blade. This blade could allow Elemental Masters of "incompatible" elements (such as water and fire) to create Fusion NRG Dragons. After Ray and Maya were rescued during this season they returned to work at Four Weapons.

Maybe for the Kruncha figure, who was only available in bigger sets?

Before when we have the official blacksmith Kai figure.

He came in a spinner though. That's how I got him.

No, I really didn't care about collecting all the villains. I wanted a complete set of the original ninjas, a complete set of the DX ninjas, and otherwise I generally bought those sets for specific parts. Like the dragon sword. Maybe I bought this thinking it had that, or looked into buying it for the same reason. It appears the set I bought to get my first dragon sword was 2254, though.

I'm taking the furry's side here. Chima has less bad seasons than Ninjago, mathematical fact.

This is an elegant set from a more ... civilized age. Of Ninjago, that is.

By in Canada,

I never saw so many antistuds in an official set image.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Not a set for me but that little fountain gave me an idea, with a smaller dish and with 1x1 faucet I think I can work couple of fountains in my town.

By in United Kingdom,

I feel like the chimney is slightly off for where it connects to the forge and can't unsee it...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I keep thinking this doesn’t appear in the show because most of the Pilot wave location sets don’t but this is an exception.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Fun fact guys:
In 70677, the panels on the side have the number 2508 on. I'm not 100% sure why, but it's still cool.
@WolfpackBricksStudios I've never actually watched Chima... But I have watched every episode of Ninjago at least 3 times (if not more)

By in United States,

So what's keeping folks from just stealing the swords from the other side of the wall when the roof is down?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pretty crazy roof design with fences etc. Not sure side attachment of brick with side stud to roof plate is legal when they could have just placed it in normal upright position and still attached fence.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Not a bad set. In this image you see it opened up: the roof and back wall are linked to turn together. So normally it actually looks like a blacksmith shop with a small tool rack in the middle.

Interestingly we got TWO blacksmiths that year on the same release date! Set 6918 Blacksmith Attack from Kingdoms was also a summer release. They were designed for different pricepoints with neither being incredibly expensive at the time, which was great! When's the last time Ninjago did a standalone buiding like this at this price point?

By in Germany,

I'm being the Scott Evil here and ask, why did they hide the weapons in the first place, instead of simply destroying them? Dorks.

Why do they make weapons again? Oh yeah, that's right. To be destroyed. That's why a blacksmith makes them.

Yeah, so they made them to hide them instead of using them. That of course makes sense, totally.

Legal attachment isn’t about whether or not there’s a different way to do it. It’s about whether making that attachment damages or stresses the parts, causes an unstable connection, or results in a connection that kids can’t be expected to disassemble. In this case, flipping the headlight bricks probably would result in an unstable connection, because this arrangement appears to result in the fence slats resting flat against the tiles on the roof. Flip them around, and there’d be a half plate gap, so any pressure on the fence would pop it off the headlight bricks.

Should have had a TARDIS. The Time Vortex can be nasty if you don't have one.

They're not hidden. They're just out the back of the building.

A TARDIS might always come in handy.

They basically *did* have a TARDIS though. It was called the Iron Doom, but it wasn't any bigger on the inside.
