Review: 30612 Batgirl
Posted by CapnRex101,30612 Batgirl is currently available with the DVD and Blu-Ray versions of The LEGO Batman Movie around the world, although the precise details of each offer varies according to your location. For instance, in the UK the polybag comes with the DVD at Sainsbury's and costs £9.99 while US residents must purchase the Blu-Ray and DVD pack from Target stores, priced at $24.99.
However, there seemed to be little variation in the disappointment when these promotions were announced. The release of a slightly updated Batgirl minifigure is remarkably dull when one considers the vast array of characters which could have taken its place. Nevertheless, collectors of polybags and The LEGO Batman Movie products will probably take an interest in this figure, despite its familiarity.
Minifigure
Batgirl wears a purple suit with yellow accents in The LEGO Batman Movie, recalling the design which originated in the 1960s television series where Barbara Gordon made her first appearance beneath the cowl. This element has been designed specifically for the latest incarnation of Batgirl and includes sharply pointed ears as well as holes through which her eyes are visible. A dark red ponytail fits to the back and can be rotated as though Barbara's hair is billowing in the breeze.
The front of the torso is decorated with a yellow bat symbol above some metallic silver armour and a similar design adorns the rear. I particularly appreciate the angular shaping which crosses between the arms, reflecting the shape of the bat symbol and lining up with the positioning of the ears on the cowl. The legs are equally detailed with yellow boots and this continues onto the sides where a couple of straps can be seen.
The only exclusive part of this minifigure is the head, although even this is quite similar to what has come before. One side is decorated with an angry expression while the other features a charming wink and a wide grin. The new designs are nice but something more distinctive would have been much more appealing. A utility belt, two batarangs and a yellow cape with shiny and matte surfaces complete the minifigure.
Overall
New versions of each main character are always welcome but this polybag is disappointing. There are many villains which have yet to appear in physical minifigure form and much of Batman's extensive wardrobe has not been explored. Batgirl is also seen in some alternative suits and her Bat Lady costume seen towards the end of the film would certainly have been appropriate for a polybag in my opinion.
However, Batgirl only appears in three other sets at the moment so there is a fair chance that she will be new to some people. On that basis this is an excellent polybag as the detail of the minifigure is tremendous and if you are intending to purchase The LEGO Batman Movie on DVD or Blu-Ray then this is certainly a nice bonus which is worth a little extra expense.

I don't have a Batgirl minifig & am only slightly tempted by this.
I'd much rather the Bat Lady outfit
Almost want to get it for the winky face, but I'm not gonna drop $30 on a Bluray right now. I'll just get the movie when it is cheaper. I already have Batgirl from the Catcycle Chase.
U can get blue ray dvds really cheep with people just wait like a year or so
Not a very interesting figure since I have two Batgirls already. But I guess it's kind of a good thing for me anyways because there are no longer any Targets in Canada.
Couldn't they at least have done a variant of Batgirl with completely white eyes like Batman? She has that appearance in the movie more often than she doesn't have the white eyes.
I, d love to get hold of this, it would be my first batgirl figure and as she is wearing the colours of Yvonne Craigs batgirl in the 1966 batman series this would be a great collectors item,
I only wish they, d made her Motorbike.
How much will just the head piece go for?
I didn't bother going out of my way to sainsburys just for the figure.
As has been said surely there could have been a more exciting figure to add to tempt people. Without giving anything away one of the ones from the music video would have been much more special.
I really enjoyed the film, love the little extra jokes slipped in for adult viewers.
I bought mine on impulse from Tesco this week as they were giving away the Joker training polybag with either the DVD or blu-ray. It works out pretty well as it means you can use the loose cowl from that set to replace the one from the Kiss Kiss Batman keychain (I'd got one the same day). It saves you having to take one from another Batman (not that there are any shortage of those).
Batgirl is an awesome minifig if you don't own one yet, though.
As an aside, blu-rays are actually one of the few things that are a lot cheaper in the UK than the US. New releases here are generally £15 tops v $25+ in the US and tax on top of that.
To me it was a no brainer, I was definitely buying the film anyway and in fact the fact that this was free on the DVD version meant I saved £5 on the Blu ray anyway.
I don't own a Batgirl, so I'll be buying this soon. I bought The LEGO Movie pack at Target that had the Vitruvius minifig, and felt that was a good purchase.
I already have batgirl from Lego dimensions but this one is more detailed and I want to get the movie.
In Belgium you won't get this polybag with the dvd, instead you get a random lego Batman movie collectible minifig. I would much rather have gotten this one with the exclusive head though.
I already have Batgirl from LEGO Dimensions, so I'll wait to see if I find this on sale. Not willing to pay more than $9.95 CAD for bluray, so I might be waiting a year 2 buy this.
Would have definitely preferred a different/never-released before outfit for either Batman or Batgirl - there are so many fun designs that were created for the movie, it's a shame that they didn't use this as an opportunity to get one more out.
In Australia, it's the pathetic polybag with a miniature version of the Batwing.
The Batwing polybag is actualy a good small set!
This movie fig should have been one of the batsuits...
