it was one of my favourite sets as a kid. lots of nice new pieces with the adventurers theme (spider, web, gold disc, main car piece, camera, leaves...), and I liked those printed statue that I pretended were golems.
When I was younger I built basically half of the Adventurer sets. Out of our own bins of spare lego. I loved them so much.
Awesome! This is a set that I still own, box in perfect condition with all parts accounted for.
I have this set, I remember playing with it a bunch, and I loved it, but it is all parted out now. Haha.
Loved this set as a kid, so many features and neat new pieces for so little cost.
I feel like if this came out now, it would have about 50 more pieces, but would also cost $25+ and not be as charming as this simple build was.
Having spent most of 1998 collecting the Adventurers Egyptian theme, I was excited to find this in store at the beginning of 1999. This was before images of upcoming sets were widely available so it was a total surprise for me! I was attracted by the new elements, especially the spider piece so I bought it was my Christmas money. Only thing was, when I got it home there was a piece (1x4 brick in tan) missing, so had to sub in a grey piece!
There's something about seeing Adventurers sets popping up randomly here that always puts a smile on my face. Does anyone else find that?
Adventurers is my favorite theme, and has a certain long-standing charm about it that can't seem to be replicated for very long in other themes.
Oh Adventurers, such a classic! I wonder when we'll see some Orient Expedition sets on here?
It's sets like these that make me wish I was born in the 90's
I kept my old Adventurers sets, and my boys love to use the parts from this one, the chrome gold parts and printed pieces with the movie camera, plus the simple trap. A small set but many fun and fairly unique parts that still promote imagination and play today.
I remember being so excited for this set so I could get my first spider, web and gold plate.
I got this on eBay a few months ago and really love it! I always wanted adventurers sets so thought it was a good place to start :) as well as ordering a Johnny thunder and Dr. Kilroy figure that is! I may not have been old enough to remember these in stores but i did have the lego racers and lego island video games and pictures of the sets so these guys have pretty much always been my favorite! :)
I hope they won't completely replace the old spider piece with the new mold from City jungle. Discontinuation of the old animals I feel makes no sense, making more realistic animals makes minifigures look superannuated. The old dogs and horses, for example, with their square legs fit better into the "Lego Style."
