Classic episode. I saw this set on sale for $12 USD but didn't care for the Mrs. Puff figure. I thought about it and went back the next day but I was too late. Live and learn I guess
When I saw the palm tree trunks in this set I felt bad about how huge and specialized they were compared to the flexible ones I'd grown up with in the early to mid 90s. I assumed they must have come out of the 4+ (Jack Stone style) Pirates sets of 2004, much like the highly specialized hull of the Durmstrang Ship from the LEGO Harry Potter theme.
It was downright bewildering when I later discovered that this style of palm tree trunk had in fact been introduced in 1999, used in the Town Jr. Coast Guard HQ as well as two sets from the Adventurers Jungle series — particularly since the old style of palm tree had been in use as recently as the Adventurers Desert sets the previous year, and I'd gotten the old style of palm tree mid-trunk segment in Bionicle sets as recently as 2004/2005!
As for the set itself, it looks like a rare example of a set that's both extremely gimmicky and fairly true to the source material — something that I suppose is only possible in themes like SpongeBob Squarepants and The Angry Birds Movie based on brands built around this kind of cartoonish, slapstick absurdity. I don't regret missing it, though, since it plays a less prominent role in the show than things like Spongebob's house or the Krusty Krab that appeared in sets much more frequently.

Though I really miss SpongeBob Lego... I don’t mind where Mega Bloks/Construx has taken it. I only had the Lego for Krusty Krab, first of Bob/Pat/Squid houses, and a loose Sandy I bought
I kinda miss them now. Even though I don't want a relaunch, hope that they could still come in future TLM cameos if their tie with Megabloks ends one day.
It's also a shame that neither Karen nor Pearl physically appeared in lineups of both companies.
I didn't know Clickits had a SpongeBob subtheme.
The shutters on the windows were nice ay. I wish we still had them.
There are several licensed themes that should come back and SpongeBob is one of them.
The day I got this set my mom accidentally ran over our dog. I’ll always associate it with that memory.

Not only it is my first RSotD, this was the one. Not my first set, but the set that got me into LEGO.
It's a bunch of badly kept parts thrown in my bins now, but then, it was very special.
I still have the boatmobile and the... uh... "battle-worn" figs on the shelf.
-The test was good fun, if you could get the boatmobile to actually make it through the whole thing. The building was nothing of note, but it did come with some tools (now I ask, why?), the chrome dishes, the windows, a bunch of dark blue slopes, and two clam parts.
-Some of the brown parts have cracked on me. Not only here, but in other sets from the period. Was that common?
-STAMPs. Ugh.
So yeah, it's a good set, though I'm sure LEGO could do it quite better now if they still had the licence.
The boatmobile is great fun, and the pull-back motor is rather scarce, having only been in 10 sets.
