Although a LEGO fan since my youth, I rediscovered my collection during a December snowstorm- I spent the day clearing the driveway & building classic Space sets. We have male fraternal twins, & though they have a huge tub of DUPLO, they have shunned them in favor of mine. :) They enjoy & marvel at the things I make, whether they are sets or not, & I have no qualms about building up my current collection for their later years. Although they received the nearly entire Monster Fighters line for Christmas, they are now headlong & likely irreversably into Star Wars. I was pleasantly surprised/pleased yesterday that one of my 4 yr olds used online instructions to build a podracer (as I handed him the pieces from our huge collection).

My biggest mistake was loaning my suitcase-sized collection to my nephew in my teens- I figured life was bringing bigger & better things & I'd pass them on. (I became quite a video game fan, & spent most of my time w/ that hobby.) Eventually I got my collection back, w/ several key/unique pieces missing, though my nephew managed to mix in his Starfleet Voyager set, which I never had. My wife (a teacher) had a student who used LEGO for a class project, & he inexplicably left them in her classroom after school let out for the summer, so she brought them home. I built the Metro PD Station main building from them, & I got a unique baseplate as well. I put my collection in storage, saving them for my kids, & they discovered them one day while we were digging around in the crawlspace.

I've been hitting up bricklink.com for replacement pieces ever since. A seller there told me of brickset.com, & here I am. I also frequent peeron.com for scanned instructions, & have built every set I intended to.
