• Best Blacktron set, great playing, with riding and flying parts

Written by (Unspecified , silver-rated reviewer) in Netherlands,

This is my favourite Blacktron set. A lot of pro’s. no serious con’s.

    Pro’s:
    - Vehicle consists of three different parts. There’s a driving part (with the big wheels), a small flying set and a top set with a sort of laboratory. The three sets can be combined in different ways.
    - This gives a very high rate of playability. It can be used as a driving vehicle but also as a flying vehicle, and in different combinations!
    - Four of the six wheels have shock absorbers. This works well.
    - Two minifigs.
    - Nice colour scheme.
    - Good design, with parts use in inventive ways. Look at the front part, and the top part (“lab”) that can be opened to put a minifig in or to use the storage box.
    - Steering of the driving set at the back.

    Con’s:
    - Two of the wheels do not have shock absorbers.
    - General con of Blacktron II series: different colour scheme from Blacktron I series.
A solution for this problem is to give all sets from Blacktron I and Blacktron II the same colour scheme. I took the white from Blacktron II out, added yellow to Blacktron II and added dark grey to I and II to give a uniform look. Works very well!!

  • Nice little set, fine design, minor flaws

Written by (Unspecified , silver-rated reviewer) in Netherlands,

This was my first space / moon set. And for a long time it remained my only space set. But than, this set inspired me to buy other space sets. And a new collection was started.

It set has some strange items. The thrusters are indeed a bit strange. The radars are attached to the vehicle in a not so sturdy way. The swoosh when you ride the car.

But is has generic bricks that can be reused in other sets. For a small space vehicle I think this set is OK. It has moving parts. It has some colours added to the space gray. It has a mini figure. You can drive it around, you can look for minerals. You can play with it . And it is a nice addition to your space / moon collection.

All together for me a 5.

Nice little police set with the early mini figures

Written by (Unspecified , silver-rated reviewer) in Netherlands,

One of the sets with the early mini figures. The white belt with the black torso and legs work well for a police man.

The police van has opening doors one the back, which actually are hatches from windows.

The motor uses the then new single wheels to create a motor with a side car. For putting the police men on the motor you need to take the mini figures apart and put the torso on top of the motor bike, and the legs under the motor. The police man in de side car can only use his torso, but where do you leave the legs of this police man?

On the whole a very nice little set, that can be of use in any Legoland town.

  • Great set as a starter for building a greater set

Written by (Unspecified , silver-rated reviewer) in Netherlands,

This is, in spite of all the down sides mentioned in other reviews, a great set:
    - Lots of minifigures
    - 3 scenes with much detail, and well designed colour schemes
    - Every scene has its own playability:
    - Entrance with sliding door giving access to landing platform
    - Carbonite room with inventive mechanism to change Han Solo into carbonite Han. This works manually and doesn’t work very smooth, but is OK.
    - Dining room with some nice details.
    - Duelling room with nice mechanisms for a falling wall and for the window breaking and taking Luke out of the room.
    - Landing platform

The down sides mentioned in other reviews can easily be answered:
    - Cramped, no separate rooms, no walls: the open structure makes for a great playability.
    - Bad working mechanisms: hey, I think they’re quite inventive.
    - Too few minifigures: OK, there could have been more stormtroopers.

    Advice:
    - use this set as a starter for building a bigger set on a great grey base plate.
    - Make a greater landing platform with the four quarter round plates. Add your other sets like MF, Slave and twin-pod.
    - Ad some extra rooms as the prison area, the dining room where they meet Darth, or the droid room.
    - Have fun building and playing!

Excellent set, best city set since years

Written by (Unspecified , silver-rated reviewer) in Netherlands,

This is a great set! Lego has returned to sets that combine all the best features of the Lego sets of the 1970s and 1980s. The list of pro's is long, the number of con's is short.

    Pro's:

    - the truck is well designed. It is 6 studs wide, as all new sets. This is one of the greatest improvements by Lego of recent years. The green color is a good addition the the other colours of other sets (usually white, red, yellow). The front of the truck looks good. The top of the truck contains a high roof as many real trucks do.

    - The cargo bays are spacious and very well accessible. The opening mechanism works well and is really inventive for this kind of set.

    - The doors of the cargo bays work well. Only monir point is that the 'top hinges' have to be handled with some care because if you don't, they come off easily.

    - The fork lift looks very good. The lift itself works good and is large enough for the vehicle.

    - Two mini figures, as should be, one for the truck, one for the fork lift.

    - Three - not one as could be expected, not two - bu three pallets with different cargo's. And cargo's that look like real cargo's.

    - Good value for money: in shops usually around 25 euro's, in The Netherlands in some internet shops available for around 20 euro's.

    - Great playability with 3 vehicles i.e. a truck, a trailer and a fork lift, two minifigures and lots of cargo.

    The con's:

    - Stickers on the sides of the cargo. Stickers on the truck and the fork lift as well. They're bound to get dirty and get off. Serious minus points for this!

Overall picture can only be if ratings could be higher than 5 this set would get a 6.

The advice can only be simple: get this set! It's the best city set since years, perhaps the best lego set since years.
