    Awesome fig

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in France,

CMFs are very hit and miss imo, but this one is definitely a hit.

The tiger woman is a costumed fig as she is wearing a belt and has bright yellow hands and head. I think her costume is flame-yellowish orange. The printing is not the most intricate but it's still great, the whole front, whole side, and the back side of the torso are printed as well as the tail and it just looks flawless overall.

The only little flaw is the ears are a slightly different color than the body, they aren't as vibrant.

Both the tail and whip are made of a rubbery material. I think the tail may be the easiest way to identify it in the bag because of its undulated shape. The whip is a giveaway as well but it took me a very long time before I managed to feel it through the bag.

Overall one of the greatest Lego Figs I've seen, certainly in my top 10.

    FUN

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in France,

    Parts

Very nice selection in this set, particularly the colors used. Lots of lime green and dark red. Some pieces that stand out are the 2 6x6x2/3 round pieces and the 10 6x6 round corner pieces in lime green that are exclusive to this set, as well as 2 bubbles canopies with printed eye patterns (also exclusives) and the eggs with insects inside.

    Minifigures

Possibly the weakest point of the set, there are only 3 minifigs. They all have legs and back printing and the human has a double sided face where he is angry and not wearing his rebreather. They all look decent, though the human and the robot look rather generic (and also very similar to each other) The robot has a weird, rather small head which makes me think of a tiny slave 1. The alien is easily the most interesting minifigs.

    The build

Interesting build with a good deal of SNOT and technic, some interesting angles and clever mechanisms

    The completed model

Very nice looking insect like monster. The size is about 30x30 cm if you take legs into account. The colors really makes it pop. The face and the eyes are particularly nice, but the best thing about it are the play features. This thing has 2 of the best play features I've ever seen.

First, by making it roll, all 6 legs will move and it can look a bit creepy. What could be even creepier is the sound they make by tapping onto the ground.

Second, the rear houses the best lego catapult I've seen so far. It has decent range and furthermore, it's not puny little cylinder it will throw, but huge eggs. And they break on impact, freeing the little insects inside them. Even better, the catapult can be preloaded. The set comes with 2 eggs, and you can put both of them on the catapult (I suspect a 3rd would also fit) when you fire an egg, the next one get into place ready to be fired as well. It also works if you replace eggs with rock boulders.

Other lesser play features includes cannons that can be rotated on ball joints and a mouth with moving teeths.

The speeder is quite a nicely done small model, but there is not much more to do than to swish it around. It can also split in 2 to provide a miniscule flyer.

    Overall opinion

It can seem slightly on the expensive side, but this set comes with quite a number of big pieces and the colors are not the most common. Also, particularly great play features makes it a very worthy model.

    juniorized but nice

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in France,

    Parts

Rather unexciting pieces, the most interesting ones probably being the horse, its robe and the lattice in titanium metallic.
However this isn't a set filled with small parts to up the pieces count, most pieces are of decent size, and you get the most 4x5 panels of any set in any color (21), the second most 3x3x6 panels of any set (18), a lot of plates including 10 "10x10" octogonal ones and a ton of windows in various shapes.
Also, this set includes a pretty worthy treasure, not ones filled with studs, but with chrome gold coins, as well as a chrome gold ingot and 2 rubys.

    Minifigures

You probably won't buy this for the minifigs. They are good, but none is outstanding and most are generic. They all have backprinting and a few only have legs printings. All the baddies have double sided faces with different expressions, but not the lion knights. Some of them share the same prints. The best pieces are the armour which are very well printed (on the front only). The crown is a different one, in a warm gold rather than chrome gold and looks suitably metallic, though less shiny, still pretty nice. The sword doesn't look as convincing in pearl gold.

7 minifigs is way too little for a castle this size.

    The build

Very, very, VERY easy. Actually maybe my easiest build since I came out of my dark age. About next to nothing when it comes to advanced technic, very minimal detailing, quite repetitive with some sections being almost identical. The right pieces are overall easy to find, even with the thousand of them mixed in a box. At least, you won't have a hard time with this one. And there are 10 (!) bags. Less than 100 pieces per bag. For comparison I think kingdom joust had 8 bags. For 1575 pieces.

    The completed model

This is a more than decent size model, I think the dimensions are about 30cm on a side, over 35 on the other and 25cm high. It looks pretty flawless from all angles, except for the rear of the gate which has a hole. Of course you still have to fly to get on the towers, but at least there is a ladder this time.

The towers are rather simple and not very big, but the gate is like a whole building by itself. To be fair, taken separately, the modular parts are unimpressive, except for the gate, but when assembled, it looks rather good.

The dark tan mason bricks, redish brown log bricks and bright blue cheese slope nicely breaks the monotony of a model which would otherwise be too grey.

The model has a nice modularity, though there are mosty 2 possible layouts, the walls and towers can then be swapped for more variability.

Also, if you simply rebuild one of the wall as a mirror of the other (easily done without any extra pieces), you can experiment with 4 new layouts :

For the criticisms, first there is not a lot of details. You have some empty rooms (others contain a table, a treasure, a throne and a prison), still, it is open for customisation. Second, this looks very clean, borderline clinical, compared to the worn look of a Helm's deep for example. At worst,I know everyone hates them, but extra stickers could have been the easy way to improve on this.

    Playability

It's a castle, so it's pretty good, though this one is definitely not trying to be original. Best part is the gate with a working drawbridge and lattice that you actionnate by turning levers. The mechanisms are pretty well concealed inside the model. The drawbridge can get jammed and could require some hand help.

The catapult on the castle can't rotate and I think don't have a lot of power.

There is a removable wall on the side. Quite a bit obvious as it's the only bit looking different from the rest.

There is a prison, it is a rather large one.

There is a door at the back.

The dragon catapult can be used to throw rocks or ram into the castle. It fires when you push the head. It works pretty well, better than your average Lego catapult.

Overall this offers the minimum you can expect from a castle, though castles offer nice playability.

    7 minifigs is too few.

    Overall opinion

Nice for the price. Useful pieces. Looks almost flawless but too clean. Well adapted to children but nice on display as well.

A pirate ships with 2 decks?

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in France,

    Parts

Large amount of brown pieces here, also a decent amount of tan and dark tan. There is obviously a large amount of slopes on the front (I guess it's the front), many 2x3 tiles with clips and lots of hinges. the 6x8 technic bricks are nice too. This sets is mostly built from plates, so it doesn't have an impressive amount of bricks (though there is a nice 12 studs wide arch)

    Minifigures

The minifigs are mostly good but few are great. Leia probably has the best printing, while others have ok but not outstanding prints (the blue elephant, max it seems, doesn't even have prints, though the color is nice)

What really stand out are some pieces which are unique to this set. the 2 moulded alien heads are great, the 3 eyed one looks amazing imo. Leia's hair is great too, rubber piece with some gold printing.

But the biggest stand out is Jabba himself, that face has lots of great details.

    The build

An unusual build. You begin with a technic frame, and the "walls" are built out of plates and attached to the frame with hinges. the inside is a more traditionnal build and this is where most of the bricks are used.

    The completed model

I saw the movie long ago (I think when episode 3 came out, so I don't know how accurate this is), but it looks good, though from the outside, it looks a lil bit plain with all that brown. I like the idea of a "pirate boat" with an indoor section.

Playability-wise, I imagine it would be great. It's like a pirate ship, with cannons and sails, but it's also a base at the same time with a kitchen and prison inside. The side panels can be opened and the top removed for accessibility. Also it has wheels for better manoeuvrability.

    Overall opinion

Great set, even if you are not into Star Wars, though the RRP is ridiculous.

    Huge impressive castle

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in France,

    Parts

Great, tons of big parts, castle panels, very large plates, staircase, large doors, very big slopes, collumn, balconies, the assortment is impressive and will allow the building of huge models. Large amount of weapons as well. Besides the swords and axes carried by the minifigs, there are also many spears used in the models and a few extra crossbow.

    Minifigures

the weak point of this set, minifigs have no prints at all, though the colour could be interesting. the bad guys all have the same head, even vladek... on the plus side, they all have an armour, which come with 6 different patterns including 5 printed ones. there are also 6 different types of helmets, 6 differents types of shields, and swords come in 5 different colors.

    The build

Quite easy, some may say juniorized due to the amount of really large pieces. It's not quick to build due to the amount of pieces, but it grows in size quickly.

    The completed model

This model is a beast. It is enormous. I mean, I began with one of the side sections, and it was already the size of the ninjago fire temple. It even dwarves a set like kingdom joust and is easily twice as big as other sets in the same price range. I recall measures being 64cm large, 38cm deep, 38 cm high.

Playability is high with many war machines, many way to enter the castle, including a swivelling wall and a sliding wall, a working drawbridge and possibility to drop boiling oil on attackers. It also has a lot on indoor space, and though not a ton of details inside, probably more than in many other castle which have little more than walls and towers. On the minus side, the bad guys are far too few for a castle that big, and a flag get in the way of one of the catapult on the castle. Also, pity that the ballista isn't spring loaded.

    Overall opinion

Certainly great as a playset, and it almost feels like a 200€ set because it's so big. Make sure you have a lot of space available. Note that the plain minifigs should earn this set a rating of 4/5, but the impressive amount of content for a set in this price range compensates for this.
