So much Joy for little money
This is an exceptional polybag creator set - it's a totally neutral and postive motive, it might bring the most color varierty for that set size ever (12 colors in 66 pieces, most of them visible and part of the design) and the result can be articulated for different expressions with tailfeathers, wings and head ...
The 2nd and 3rd build are less good just because the first one is so exceptional. I'd accept the butterfly as a standalone polybag (not the best one it would be, but okay).
The building experience is basic, but that's inherent to the size of the set. Every child can do it and will see immediate results in how the animal forms.
Parts are great in color and shape, they are totally neutral to the motive of the set and can be re-used in anything else with no loss.
Playability is good due to the articulation of three/four body parts in such a small build. The fifth star would be justified if the parrot could take off and move his legs backwards while flying ... MOCing potential.
As the parts are small, the value/price ratio might not be exceptionally good, but that's with all polybag sets, they can't comete with huge sets in that category. You won't regret the few bucks though, no matter this costs you 3, 4 or 5 euros ...

Camper-Spacecraft from outer Space
This is a classic – one part is nostalgia, but the other one is that FUTURON (along with m:tron, blacktrons, space police and ice planet?) has aged very well design wise, compared to space sub-themes that came in the late 90ies. These are still nice builds today with a distinctive design and great playability.
To me, this specific set is a bit odd (or special) in design – being less "dynamic" than the other futuron ships – i remember this as the camper or caravan in my spaceship collection, used for vacation :-)
The build is interesting and non-repetetive. The instructions from that time are a bit harder to follow for children, but of course it's not really a problem.
Parts in this are rather standard, except for the two big octagonal shells in the back part of the spacecraft. There are also some nice windscreens and blue dishes which are always welcome. Parts with design are printed like all from that era. You get two futuron minifigs, but only in the most common colours blue and yellow – red would have been cool to match the colour scheme of the spacecraft.
Playability is great with this: as usual, you can split the spacecraft in parts – the front and central part can act as spacecrafts or rocket seats of their own, while the back part could serve as a housing on a planet surface. (It would have been specially cool if one could have split the front part into left and right subsections ... potential for a small modification.) There is a small wheeled robot that can be packed away in the back part of the craft for transport and be unloaded over the rear. The "shells" on the back part can open, but there is not really a function attached to it – guess they only can do that as the parts used provide this, not because it's intended.
Can't say a lot about value for money from when this was released. Today, bricklinking might cost some dollar as the octagonal shells are not cheap, but it's definitely not too painful if you are eager to complete your futuron fleet.

Christmas tree from outer space
This thing is crazy ... the concept seems to be to attach as much colourful and blinking parts as possible to a structure as thin and fragile as possible. I love it, but part of it is nostalgia.
Building is rather complicated, and as the model is and stays fragile, can be quite a pain for a model that size. But one never stops to wonder when the "attach one more funky thing" actually stops – and it does not for quite a while.
Parts are a trans-colour galore ... there are dishes, there are antennas, there are cones, there as light and sound modules, there are tubes, there are 10(!) of those landing thingies at the base, there are 6(!) control nozzles, there are 6(!) supports and lots of rocket stuff. One minifig is not much though for that size of a ship, but there is no place to put more.
Playability is a mixed bag ... it has sound, and light, and light, and it can split apart. But it is fragile as hell.
Getting the parts for this is rather expensive today, so value for money is not great, but if you are trying to get it out of nostalgia or completeness, it's still okay.

Big Explorer
I missed this set when it came out, but it had always appealed to me optically. When i finally got a hand on it, i was surprised that it is quite a bit bigger than i had expected with measuring 8x16 stud. I guess it looks smaller due to its bulky and somewhat "sweet" proportions, with very well formed details (given the scale).
The build is quite straight-forward, with some snot-techniques to it to form the curved walls, but due to it's size there is nothing much suprising.
The parts are not very special (this is totally good for creator), but the earth blue parts are very welcome and combined with red and white, they make the model look quite maritime.
Playability is quite good for a creator set ... of course there are no minifigs or the like, but it can slide on plain surfaces thanks to the round slide shoes at the base, and it has a crane and a cool looking submarine robot that fits in the loading bay. The crane is bulky due to the scale, but it can do everything needed to unload the sub.
The second model being a plane is very nicely done too. It's very bulky and heavy (and therefore stable), having the same sweet look as the primary model. Definitely one of the best secondary builds in the small creator sets area.
The third model is some uninspired submarine ... honestly it looks so ugly i don't have an urge to build that one.
And there seems to be a fourth building instruction digitally, for a ferry ... while i appreciate that, and it works for other sets (green dinosaurs!), it's nothing overwhelming in this case.Given the great first and the very good second model, and the price that was asked for when this was available, overall this is an extraordinary good, modern creator set.

Mighty good dinosaurs :-)
Lego Creator + Dinosaurs ... could it get any better?
This s a rather small incarnation of this theme, but the models are well designed for the given size and surprisingly playable.
The look of the Tyrannosaurus is quite detailed, especially the head is a highlight, with some SNOT-magic applied to make it compact and still well-formed. Triceratops has an impressive head too, with a bit of a clunky body, but that dinosaur was, well ... clunky. Pteranodon is quite a beauty as well, and can do dynamic poses.
The looks of all three of them suffer a bit from the big ball joints used to attach their legs ... they give a lot of stability, but don't fit in well with the body work. It's a compromise between looks and playability, and as this set is primarily targetted for children, playability is a strong factor here.Tyrannosaurus Rex definitely is the prime build, defining the parts included in this set and therefore what the other two builds can achieve. It is very very movable with countless hinges and ball joints ... jaw, head, neck, arms, hands, legs, feet, and serveral parts of the tail ... just incredible for such a small model. Besides being movable, it is also very very stable and therefore playable. The only really speical parts needed to achieve this are the joints in his hips ... not really a fan of those as they are quite non-legoish, but i see why they were used. Also not too happy about the technic parts in his feet to attach the claws – but the rest is rather pure modern lego combined cleverly.
Value for money is great, even on list price, and this set often is/was discounted ... no licenses, no complicated things, lots of good parts in a rather rare colour.
As a bonus, there is an official additional 4th model – a beautiful Dipodocus / Sauropod, well fitting in.
And if that's not enough, this set is a great entry into doing MOCs ... if you look at rebrickable, there are many mocs published based on this set alone ... among them a great plesiosaurus, a stegosaurus and a dimetrodon - as well as insects, crabs, scorpions, snakes and a fantastic elefant.6 out of 6 people thought this review was helpful.
