As a father AFOL of a young girl who is well on her way to becoming a KFOL, I was excited about the new Friends line. She'd dabbled with the City and Cars themes, but nothing seemed to fit what she wanted to build with Lego. Then, our tween friends from Heartlake City showed up. This mid-sized set has everything a young or even pre-teen kid would love, enough minidolls to set up great play themes and accessories to keep them entertained for days. The build of the set itself isn't too complicated but still uses some really interesting techniques, and includes some parts that are really useful for MOC's.
Pros
- Interesting parts
- Great accessories and play features
Cons
- Stickers. I mean, I know that mirror prints for bricks is cost prohibitive, but I still miss the old days of printed parts. My daughter could care less, she doesn't remember a Lego before the DSS.
In short, this is a great little set with lots and lots of play features. Even as an AFOL, as I was helping my daughter build the set, I would see parts and colors and go, 'Wow, this would make a really cool . . .' over and over. Five bricks all the way; if you can find this, grab it.
