WATER STRIKE
Season 2 of the Rising Dragon sets decided to do something different for their half finish (now 3/8, as for the first time Arin is having his first) spinner sets, except this one isn't a spinner this time around.
Gimmick
Instead, we are getting these 'strike', in which you slam the tail at the back to cause it to strike at whatever is in front of it. It's a fine, simple gimmick, but not something to be a stand-alone.
But maybe that's why there are two minifig instead of one and a random drone like in previous years' Dragon Power Spinjitzu.
Dragon thing
The design of the set that the gimmick is used on is fine. Bringing in new pieces which we'll likely never see again apart from the wings. Maybe the head will be seen again aside from Tournament Temple City as there are bar connections.
I do like how both Nya and Kai set, they both use the others' dragon core. And speaking of the core, it's a little strange how they are being reused, as they aren't being used for anything like shooting. (Yes, the spinner from the previous year didn't do that, but they were the focus of that year.)
Minifigure
The minifigure in the sets are Nya and a Wolf Mask Warrior.
Looking between the pearl mask and gold for Nya, the gold honestly looks a lot better with more gold than pearl dark grey. Sad that this gold mask is only exclusive to Kai, Nya and Arin. Hopefully, we see this being done for the other ninjas as well.
The Wolf Mask is no different from many of the other sets that have it. It's a very nice looking minifigure with a great mask.
Overall
Overall, it feels like it's best to wait for this to be on a discount, as it doesn't feel like you would get too much fun from this gimmick compared to spinners. Maybe if they were more of a luncher, it could help the set playability.
I would only recommend getting this if you want to get your hands on the new pieces to use and the minifigures.
