    This was really special to me. I saw it on a winter / snowshoe hike. I was just at the right place at the right time so that the it was backlit and just so impressive.

      Make Room

      We didn't get a good look, but, I think we caught a glimpse of a sasquatch-looking character rushing out of Jack Russell's Steakhouse in Bar Harbor, Maine. He kind of walked where he wanted to and he wanted to walk between two saplings. Snap! The last thing we heard was a grunt and then, "I wish Jack would stock more toilet paper!"

            Samuel de Champlain used to sit on these benches and gaze at the Kennebec River. This was around 1605, so, maybe the benches weren't there. Sam loved to travel. Sam traveled so much that Louis XIII of France had to order him to cease exploration and get his butt back to Quebec.

              5/ Penny's peach tree is in distress. Not sure what is going on. We just had a week of very heavy rain and before that a week of extreme heat which we are back to. :(

Die rautenförmige Öffnung mit breitem dunklen Rand verleiht dem „Baumgesicht“ Charakter.                   I keep a Perpetual Journal; here are my entries from my yard 1, 2 & 3 years ago this week: Foothills Palo Verde Seedpods turning red; 0.82” rain; Saguaro fruits! In ‘26 the seedpods are turning tan; Saguaros have had fruit for weeks & we got .4” rain the previous week.

                            For Penny's birthday, she got a that was grafted from an older tree so it would bear fruit sooner.

                            To our surprise, we have a baby peach already! It wasn't planted all that long ago.

                            Also note, the wildflowers are starting to grow in the no-mow yard! We are letting nature do the edges with whatever comes up and thanks to the generosity of the birds doing the "seeding" LOL

                              (A last blip of intense summer heat before the first wave of winter descended into the valley just a couple of days later. The colors that day were just magical and created an unforgettable mood, maybe also because it was one of the last long hikes we did with our darling dog...)
