Wanted to buy the newest pokemon DLC and somehow couldn’t purchase it from my console and kept getting errors on the official nintendo website. Easy, don't have to run to the store to get a card. Multiple ways to pay for it. You get the code right away and an e-mail just in case you cleared your page and didn't copy the code.
