Southern Girls November Christmas Challenge

Christmas challenge this fortnight, the sponsors are:

and

For this challenge I am using an image called "Hope" from The Paper Shelter.  One of my favourites that I have used before., this time round I used the coloured version of the image and the background paper.

I have digitally created the face of the card, using the background paper and the coloured image.  I have added a shadow behind the girl (coloured image) and worked in a shadow behind the star she is holding.  I have also typed on a Christmas message.

Once printed and cut out, I added some diecut lace, pearls and coloured cardstock to finish the card.

I received "Christmas Sweet Fox" from Oddball Art Co.  The fox image includes 3 Christmas baubles.  I printed, coloured and fussy cut the fox, layering him on to some patterned paper.  For the baubles I made them bigger, printed and coloured with copic pens and metallic ink.  In the end, I only used one of the baubles, added some ribbon and a sentiment to complete the card.

Southern Girls - Father's Day / Male

Our sponsor for this fortnight's challenge is

For this challenge I stepped out of my comfort zone and used rubber stamps.  In fact all products used are from Stampin Up. I have a daughter in law who is a demonstrator for the company and she is trying to convert me to stamping.

I thought the sentiment would be great for Father's Day Card or even a birthday card.

Coloured with copic pens and clothing is all paper pieced.  Birthday card for a little boy who loves his Superheros. He has curly hair, so I have left his hair a bit curly swirly.

Southern Girls - Glitter Sparkle

Sponsors at Southern Girls are

All Dressed Up

I am Roses

I received images from All dressed Up "Fairy Swing and Little Flower Fairy" and completed another Art Journal Page with a poem about The Buttercup Fairy."

I'm using a sketch book with 150gsm paper, so it is not shiny and white.  For this page, I pulled out a double page from the book, printed the verse and then covered with Fresco Chalk Paints.  The other side of the double page I printed the images and coloured them with alochol pens and fussy cut.

After adhering the cut image to the painted surface, I have added pen, glitter and marker for highlights.

I've used a combination of glues, paints, glitters, liquid pearls and markers to complete the page, then stuck it back into the book.  This is probably not the right type of paper to use, but I love the feel of this paper and love the effect once painted.

Southern Girls Challenge 21 March, 2019

The theme this fortnight at Southern Girls is "For Someone Special"

I have used an image from A day for Daisies, called "Strawberry Birthday cake" and made a birthday card for my daughter, who can't eat chocolate, so I made a vanilla iced cake.  Bit of mixed media going on here.

The icing has been made with texture paste and Fresco Finish chalk acrylics (Butter cream of course) I have taken a close up so you should be able to some textured.

Next the straeberries and cherries have been coloured with copic pens, the cherries have also had a coating of glossy accents and a touch of white paint to highlight.  Then I added some gold liquid pearls.

The girl has been coloured with copic pens and her dress is paper piecing. Flowers, leaves, ribbon and sentiment complete the card.

Southern Girls Challenge 24 Jan, 2019

The current challenge at Southern Girls is "Love is in the Air"

Great sponsors for the challenge

I received "Best Friend Hug" from Liastampz and thought it was perfect for my daily diary.  I am not really into pink and I wasn't sure about a planner that did not have the days numbered.  But it was on special, the price was way down, so I thought why not.

Now I love it, it is compact enough to leave around, leather (faux)wrap around cover with an elastic band to hold it shut.  What I really really like about little diary, is I can leave the current page open, close the inside flap over it and it is always at the page I want.

The image has been coloured with copic pens and fussy cut.  Glued to the cover.  Washi tape, flowers and some of my messy writing (I have amazing biros that write on anything and do not smudge) completes the cover.  Now I feel it is mine.

Southern Girls - Glitter - 13 December

Definitely close enough to start wishing everyone
A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Our sponsors at Southern Girls this fortnight are:

Altenew

All Dressed Up

Decided to do an Art Journal Page with "Butterfly Wings" from All Dressed Up".  It is a glitter overload. I started the page when I wasn't feeling 100% and then my printer died and I had to go and buy a new one.  You will see the type is crooked, that's me not putting the paper into the new printer correctly,  By this stage I decided onward and upward, just keep going and something will work.

The background and parts of the image are painted with Fresco Finish Chalk Paints, then I've added some pencil, gel pen, copic pens, rub ons, tissue paper and glitter, lots of different glitters.  Finished off with some glitter grass and mushrooms.

Southern Girls - Critter Crazey - 18 Oct, 2018

Our sponsors at Southern Girls Challenges are:

Krafter's Cart

 and

All Dressed Up.

I have used an old image from All Dressed Up called "Butterflies.  The background has been painted with Fresco Finish chalk acrylic paints, I have only just started using these paints, I love the fact they dry so quick, but the feel once dry is soft like chalk but of course doesn't rub off.  Not many colours at this stage so I used blue called Bora Bora and Pinky red called Bougainvillea to create the different purple shades. The image has been coloured with Little Tipsy pens, the top butterfly I have printed, coloured and fussy cut, mounted with 3d dimensions.  Added glitter, gems and sentiment completes the card.  don't know why, but I always find purple and green together are a tranquil combination.

Southern Girls - Use Metal - 23 Aug, 2018

Sponsor for this challenge is

I've used an image in my stash from Lacy Sunshine called Chefkin Troll.  He has been coloured with copic pens and fussy cut.

I have to Cooking Journals, one for savory and one for sweet dishes, always wanted to alter their black covers but never seem to get around to it or the mojo just hasn't been there.  But after finding these tiny metal charms, together with Chefkin, thought they would make a great cover.

Did a test run with the wonder tape to see if I could get any paper to adhere to the poly something or other covers and found the Wonder Tape from Rangers worked.

The charms have been attached to the paper with split pins before the paper was adhered to cover.  Chefkin glued to the cover (keeping things as flat as possible on the cover. Found a scrap of edging that has been added to the sides, typed a quote and now by sweet cooking Journal has a different cover.

The quote has been typed and the edges distressed and inked.  Butterflies and leaves from my stash.   Some of the flowers and bling are from Flourish with a Bling (sadly now a closed shop), dimensional paste forthe butterfly path.
