Pocket Traveler's Notebook Layout with Tina

Hello friends! It's Tina here today with you to share a new project using the beautiful January Life Crafted and Add-On Scrapbooking kits. I decided to create a layout about my cat Gandalf in the pocket traveler's notebook.

I started by trimming the photos of my cat to fit on the page, and then I adhered them to the right hand side of the spread to create a flip-up. After that I cut a mint pattern paper from the Life Crafted kit into two strips and glued them down on the both sides of the spread.

I really wanted to use the gorgeous gold glitter ephemera piece "fabulous" as a title, and as it was already consisted of two parts I adhered one of them on the photo and the other on the left hand side of the spread.

Next I simply made two ephemera clusters using the Add-On Kit, wrote down my journaling and added a few smaller embellishments here and there to add some dimension.

I really like how easy this project came together with the help of beautiful and inspiring products in the January Citrus Twist Kits. I hope you will share your creations with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Fan page on Facebook or on Instagram using the #citrustwistkits @citrustwistkits.

Thank you so much for stopping by! And happy crafting!

Travelers Notebook Challenge with Marsha

Hey friends!  Marsha here, and I'm hosting this week's Travelers Notebook Challenge!  I used the Life Crafted "Around Here" kit, along with the This is Life "Routine" stamp and the Travelers Notebook stamp.

My challenge for you today is to create a TN layout documenting one of your crafty or creative projects.  Here's a look at the spread I created documenting my first garment sewing adventure:

My mom is an amazing seamstress, but this is not a skill that I have inherited!  I love adding stitching to my scrapbook pages, but an actual garment is much more challenging for me.  It was fun getting this little story about myself documented.

The June "Around Here" kit is perfect for this type of project.  There are so many fun embellishments in the kit that work great for this type of documenting.  To begin my spread, I printed some photos of my sewing project.  I chose to highlight one photo on the page, and I added a tag behind the photo to hold the journaling and an additional photo.  I created the tag using one of this month's exclusive subscriber printable journaling cards.

The cute sewing machine ephemera piece worked perfectly on my page.  I added some stamping and used the tile alphas included in the kit to spell out the word "sewing."

For my title, I used a puffy foam phrase sticker and an ephemera die cut piece.  I absolutely LOVE the black puffy foam stickers this month and may have almost used the entire sheet!  They are great for titles and also include some fun icons.

To finish off the spread, I added some machine stitching to several areas on the page.  This was the perfect touch for my project about sewing.

Here's one final look at my TN layout:

Thanks for joining me today.  I can't wait to see your take on this week's TN Challenge!

Adding a large photo to the Life Crafted Album with Melanie

Hello CTK friends,
Melanie here with another page in my Life Crafted Album.
For this Layout I used the February Life Crafted Kit and the adorable puffy stickers from the Scrapbooking Add-On Kit.

I used the tag from the Kit for my photo. I glued it down, cut around it and then punched the wholes in it. I used some tags and hearts for embellishing my picture. I kept it simple because I wanted the photo to stand out.

I glued a paper from the kit on the backside of the tag and used a picture of my frozen hair which was taken the same day as the one from the front side. Again I used some tags for embellishing my layout. This time I made a little cluster on the bottom of the tag and another one on my picture.

I finished the layout by adding some puffy stickers and my journaling and called it good. It's so easy and fun documenting your stories in this cute little album and it's so versatile. That's what I love about it so much.

This is my last blogpost for Citrus Twist Kits and I am a little sad about it because being on this team and working with all the talented ladies and the gorgeous products was wonderful but life got a little busy lately and I felt I needed to take a step back. I will see your work in the CTK Facebook Group and on Instagram though!

Have fun creating,

Melanie

Life Crafted with Melanie

Hello CTK friends, Melanie here today.
I am sharing some more pages in my wonderful Life Crafted Album. I used the lovely February Life Crafted Kit  and the This is Life 'heart and Soul stampset.
The first layout is a double page, one 8x4 inch size and a smaller insert (8x3 inch). I love to vary the page sizes in my album, that  makes for a lot more interest.

For the first page I trimmed the gorgeous flower paper to size and added my picture with the die cut title and some tags and hearts to the bottom of the page. I sewed along the hearts to add a little more texture.

I stamped a label by using the stamps from the kit, cut it out and glued it on top of my layout, then I slid everything into the pocket before attaching a butterfly on top it. When I work with pocket pages I love to stick some pieces outside the pockets. It adds a lot of texture and makes everything more interesting when flipping through the pages.

I repeated the same technique on the left hand side of my spread where I used two of the cards from the kit to fill in my pockets. I placed my journaling on one of the cards and called my spread done.

For the backside of the 3x8 pocket I also used two of the cards. I created my own embellishment by using the heart stamp on a red card and punching it out with a circle punch.  I stapled it on the card and journaled about our evening strolls, playing Pokémon Go, which I love right now.

I stapled the 24/7 diecut on my bottom card to finish this page.

I hope you all love your Life Crafted Albums like I do and I can't wait to see what you're creating. As always, don't forget to share your work with us on Instagram (#citrustwistkits) and in our Facebook Group ! Until next time,

Melanie

Sunday Sketch with Melanie

Hello crafty friends, Melanie here today bringing you this week's Sunday Sketch. It's a fun one and I have a layout and a TN Spread for you today. But first let's have a look at the sketch.

For the layout I mainly used the Skyland Pocket Life Kit but also papers from the Skyland Scrapbook and the Pattern Paper Play Kit.

Instead of two landscape photos I used one vertical picture of myself 'hubby' took during our latest getaway while I was setting up the camera to take a picture of the two of us. Other than that I pretty much stuck to the sketch.

I used a stencil to add some splatters on the bottom of my layout and then started by matting my photo on coordinating papers. After that I added the base layers with patterned papers and put my photo on top by using some craft foam to add more dimension. The red exclusive paper of the Kit is so pretty and I also used some blue tones. For more layering I tucked some of the embellishments beneath my photo and made some tags of patterned paper. The cork circles give a nice texture on the layout, I always love using them.

For more texture I ruffled up the edges of the papers.

After that I worked on my embellishment cluster on the bottom right and added my title by placing the 'Oh yeah !' above my embellishment cluster and nestling in the 'SO ME' by using the gorgeous puffy stickers, they are my favorite alphas!

I placed the journaling above of my photo and to add more contrast I stamped the cute camera from the Daily Routine Stamp directly on my page with black ink.

For the TN spread I rotated the sketch and used two small landscape photos we took on a recent bike trip.

I used the Skyland Pocket Life Kit and  layered some of the papers on both sides of the TN spread, placed my photos on the right hand side and a journaling card on the left. My title went on the very  top of the right page. I finished off by adding some of the lovely epoxy stickers and a little bit of stamping.

Now it's your turn!  I can't wait to see what you're all making, be sure to share your projects on Instagram and our Facebook Group and tag us so we can see your work.

Happy crafting, Melanie

Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey everyone!  It's Kira and I am back with TWO layouts for you using the Sunday Sketch.  Have you used the sketches for your travelers notebook layouts yet?  I consider myself a TN newbie...or a TN dabbler?  Lol.  I don't know, I do TN spreads occasionally, but it's definitely not my main form of documenting.  So I find sketches really helpful!

I used the sketch originally for this 12x12 layout.  I chose this picture of my dog since it was horizontal vs. vertical orientation.  And then I stuck very closely to the sketch.

I started with all my paper layers.  I used the 6x6 papers that were included in the Pocket Life kit.  I wanted to use ALL THE COLORS on this layout.  So I loved the public transportation map paper, and loved that it also served as a neutral to break up the other patterned paper I chose.

I created a small cluster to the left of my photo using the camera from the thicker pack, a couple stickers from the Here & There sticker pack and finished it off with a puffy sticker from the PL kit.

I added a small amount of stitching on top of the layers in black thread.  Along with a few puffy stickers from the embellishment kit and Pocket Life kit to add another pop of color above my photo.

I used the Here & There thickers for my title.  And layered it with a sticker from the Here & There cardstock stickers.  I brought the puffy stickers down to my title to create a diagonal design along my page and incorporated some more black by adding some splatters.

I added my journaling strips and a date stamp and called this page done.  You can watch the entire process here.

Now see how I used the same sketch but in a TN format.

The first thing I did for this TN spread was flip the sketch on it's side.  Most of my photos are portrait orientation since I take them on my phone.  So it made more sense to me to flip the sketch.

I also went a little lighter on my layers.  And honestly, finding the right balance was harder in this format than it was on the 12x12 layout...but that's probably because I am a TN newbie/dabbler.

You might notice that I did add some stitching on my layers here too.  I did that before I adhered on layers into my album, and chose black since I knew I was going to add black throughout the rest of the layout.

When I started working on the reverse side, I knew I wanted to use one of the adorable Amy Tangerine paperclips as my title.  This led to me deciding on sort of flipping my orientation again.  I think it added a really whimsical look to the page.

I added the phrase "Photo Story" from the TN stamp set.  Then added journaling strips underneath.  I finished the page off with black splatters.  You can watch the entire process here

I can't wait to see how you interpret this sketch!

Until next time,

Kira
