Life Crafted with Ashley Horton

Hi there friends!  I'm stopping in today to share a new layout with you, using the September The Best Parts Life Crafted Kit.  This is an amazing Kit and it is filled with my favorite colors...Pink, Teal and Yellow!  And, this month also has one of my favorite stamps sets that has been released...The Good Life stamp set!!  It's still available in the CTK store, so you can stop by and pick one up!!

Since I was so in love with The Good Life stamp, I decided to create my own patterned paper background with it.  I used ink pads that matched the colors in the Kit and stamped the larger phrases in a random pattern on white paper.  I made sure to stamp some of the phrases off of the edges of the paper to make it look like a patterned paper.

Once I had finished the stamping, I went through the ephemera pack and pulled out several of the flowers.  I used them to create a collage over the stamped paper.  I adhered some of them directly to the background paper and I used pop dots behind some of the others for dimension.  I also used the word Beautiful from the ephemera pack and the Alpha Puffy Stickers to create my title.

Since I had a lot of color on the left side of the layout, I decided to print my photo in black and white and made it full size.  I love the contrast it adds to the layout.  I kept things simple with the photo, by adding a few embellishments in the bottom corner and then I placed the numbers by each of the kids.  They were just the right finishing touch for my page!

Even though The Best Parts Kit is sold out, you can still get on the Waiting List for next month's Kit!  Make sure you sign up, if you've been wanting to be a subscriber.  The Kits are going fast each month, and you don't want to miss out!!

PL challenge with Laura

Hello ladies! It's Laura here and today I bring you a new Pocket Life challenge so that you can get inspired with this gorgeous new December Life Crafted "Hustle & Heart" kit!

My challenge for you is to...
1. Add some bling!
2. Use your handwriting
3. Use two main colors and a basic

So, once this is told, I'm going to explain myself, but you can take these prompts and create what you feel!

On the first place, I love to add shiny elements on all of my projects. On this kit, you can find these gorgeous golden stars, but you can combine them with some sparkling embossing powders! Get the most out of your stamps and play with different materials!

On the second place, I encourage you to use your own handwriting! It's always nice to see how it changes through the years and it is faster as well!

Finally, you can see that I used some pale colors on this page. My pictures were a little bit dark, so I wanted to balance all the layout. Another technique that I like to use i to combine only two colors and some neutrals. This way, it will be easier for you to match everyting!

And that's all for today! I hope that you got inspired and that you play along with this challenge! And don't forget to check the shop for more beautiful scrapbooking goodies!

Best wishes!

Summer Magic with Nathalie

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today bringing you a new layout that features the lovely July Scrapbooking Add-on kit to document a magical summer memory.  This month's kit is packed with beautiful papers and designs that will make it so easy to document your memories.

It was so hard and easy to pull pieces from the July kits to create this page.  However, i chose to start with a non-white background.  Once I found this light blue cardstock, my first idea was to add a bit of mixed media to the background.

Using the Pinkfresh Studio watercolors (found in the CTK Shop), I added splashes of color to the background.  While it dried,  i used  my Silhouette Cameo to cut two of the stars backgrounds (Subscriber cut file) from the white cardstock included in the Add On Kit.

In addition, i used another cut file (subscriber only) to create the title of this page, and backed it with papers from the add-on kit.  With so many choices in the papers, it was easy to create a summer masculine palette for the title.

A bit of foam adhesive secured the cut outs to the page. A few sentiments from the Add-On stamp set were also added to the background.  The picture was then set on the middle of the page - nestle between the cutouts- and clusters of ephemera and stickers from the Add-on kit and a few from the Life Crafted kit were added to the corners of the picture.

To finish the page, i added a small strip of paper to the bottom of the page, and then added a few gold ink splatters and lines of journal besides the title.

I love the final look of the page. This month's Add-on kit is so packed with beautiful pieces that will get your creativity flowing, and make it easy and quick to document all your memories -not just those Sunny Summer ones-.  Remember you can always contact me if you have questions on how this came together.

XO

Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey everyone!  It's Kira and I am back with TWO layouts for you using the Sunday Sketch.  Have you used the sketches for your travelers notebook layouts yet?  I consider myself a TN newbie...or a TN dabbler?  Lol.  I don't know, I do TN spreads occasionally, but it's definitely not my main form of documenting.  So I find sketches really helpful!

I used the sketch originally for this 12x12 layout.  I chose this picture of my dog since it was horizontal vs. vertical orientation.  And then I stuck very closely to the sketch.

I started with all my paper layers.  I used the 6x6 papers that were included in the Pocket Life kit.  I wanted to use ALL THE COLORS on this layout.  So I loved the public transportation map paper, and loved that it also served as a neutral to break up the other patterned paper I chose.

I created a small cluster to the left of my photo using the camera from the thicker pack, a couple stickers from the Here & There sticker pack and finished it off with a puffy sticker from the PL kit.

I added a small amount of stitching on top of the layers in black thread.  Along with a few puffy stickers from the embellishment kit and Pocket Life kit to add another pop of color above my photo.

I used the Here & There thickers for my title.  And layered it with a sticker from the Here & There cardstock stickers.  I brought the puffy stickers down to my title to create a diagonal design along my page and incorporated some more black by adding some splatters.

I added my journaling strips and a date stamp and called this page done.  You can watch the entire process here.

Now see how I used the same sketch but in a TN format.

The first thing I did for this TN spread was flip the sketch on it's side.  Most of my photos are portrait orientation since I take them on my phone.  So it made more sense to me to flip the sketch.

I also went a little lighter on my layers.  And honestly, finding the right balance was harder in this format than it was on the 12x12 layout...but that's probably because I am a TN newbie/dabbler.

You might notice that I did add some stitching on my layers here too.  I did that before I adhered on layers into my album, and chose black since I knew I was going to add black throughout the rest of the layout.

When I started working on the reverse side, I knew I wanted to use one of the adorable Amy Tangerine paperclips as my title.  This led to me deciding on sort of flipping my orientation again.  I think it added a really whimsical look to the page.

I added the phrase "Photo Story" from the TN stamp set.  Then added journaling strips underneath.  I finished the page off with black splatters.  You can watch the entire process here

I can't wait to see how you interpret this sketch!

Until next time,

Kira
