Sunday Sketch with Marci

Hello, thank you for joining me this Sunday for our Sketch challenge.  It is a very fun and creative one.

Here is the sketch we will be using. I loved the evergreen trees on this page. My original plan was to follow the sketch almost exactly. After making my trees, I liked them so much I did not want to cover them up. I therefore adjusted the sketch slightly.

Here is my final layout. I made the main page 7in wide by 8.25in tall to fit in my December Album this year. To include a longer story and more embellishing, I added two 3x4 journaling cards to the left side of the layout.

I used two Citrus Twist exclusive cut files for my trees.  All the papers, cards, and embellishments came from the OH WHAT FUN! kit. I think the black and white color palette with a pop of red is such an elegant look. I made sure to pull a bit of red into each area of the spread.

I used a white, glitter texture paste from my stash to paint the center tree. Similar to the sketch, I wanted it to have a snow-flocked look.  I then used a red marker to color in the stars on the cut file. It was a simple step that I think adds a lot to the design.

Here are a few more close-up looks.

Thank you for stopping by. I'd love to see what you create with this sketch.

Happy Sunday to everyone! It is Marci with you today. We have another amazing sketch for you this week.

I loved that this sketch has a place for multiple pictures. I did end up replacing one of the journaling spots for even another picture. When I first looked at this sketch I saw an 8.5in x 11in layout. I choose to resize it to 7in x8.25in which will fit into one of the 6x8 life crafted albums. I also knew that I wanted this on the right side of my album based on where I had space for a one page layout. Although, I could have left the sketch as is, knowing that it would be on the right side, I decided to rotate the sketch 180 degrees. This puts the large paper stripe on the right side of the layout.

I used three of the digital papers from the GOING PLACES digital collection. I loved the bright and cheery orange and yellow paper. I also used a green and blue paper to tie in with the colors of my photos. With the smaller layout size and keeping my photos larger, I choose to move the title vertically and onto the stripe of paper.

I used three of this month's cut files on this layout. First, was the title HAPPY CAMPER. Next, I resized two of the other cut files, the LOVE arrow and the LET'S Go arrow, to make two smaller embellishments. I wanted some dimension to these cut files so I cut each one three times and layered them together. Now each one has the thickness of chipboard and is elevated a little off the page. I love the esthetic.

Similar to the sketch, I wanted to add my journaling onto a tag behind the lower picture. I used double sided tape along three sides to make a pocket behind the picture. My pictures are about 3.25in wide and 2.5in tall. I made my tag 4in x 2in so it would fit inside the pocket I created.

To finish off the spread I pulled some items from my Citrus Twist stash. These Puffy Word Phrase Stickers matched the colors in the GOING PLACES collection perfectly, so did these Cardstock stickers. Lastly, I added a heart and arrow from this Chipboard Arrow Sticker Set. They round out my third cluster of embellishments and match the denim and wood colors in my photos.

Thank you for visiting the blog today. I would love to see how you use this sketch in your crafting!

Life Crafted Inspiration with Shu-Wen

Hey everyone!

It's Shu-Wen here, sharing my last blog post for the year! In this post, I'm sharing some inspiration for my 6x8 December Daily Life Crafted Album, featuring the December 2022 "Winter Magic" Digital collection and ephemera pieces!

Ever since I first saw the Christmas tree cut file from the "Trim the Tree" cut file set designed by Ashley Horton, I knew I wanted to back it with patterned papers to use as a feature page in my December Daily album. The weather outside has been dreadful here in Alberta, so it's been perfect for staying indoors and crafting! I find backing cut files a very "hygge" experience, it's relaxing and allows me to take some time just for myself as I sip on some hot chocolate. I backed the cut file with some papers from the "Winter Magic" Traveler's Notebook Digital Papers set, because I thought the wintery teals and greys in would be perfect to reflect the frigid temperatures we've been experiencing here towards the latter half of December. So although I was originally planning on using this as the base of a layout documenting our cold temperatures, I decided to make it into a vellum overlay instead to serve as the title page for volume 2 of my December Daily albums this year!

I had fun playing around with the placements of the patterned papers beneath the cut file, making sure to include this little blue bird within one of the tree outlines! ^_^ After I finished backing the cut file with various patterned papers, I added my title using some Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers to spell out "2022 December", and added an ephemera piece from the "Winter Magic" Die Cut Ephemera Pack for the word "Daily". I had initially tried a light mint green font for the alphabet stickers to go with the wintery greens of this collection, but ultimately went with the black font instead because it made the title stand out a bit more from the background. Then, I scattered numerous enamel dots in coordinating colors onto my vellum page, focusing most of the enamel dots towards the center of the page where I had my title. I took these enamel dots from a couple of different packs from the Citrus Twist Kits line, including the "Flea Market Findings" Enamel Dots and the "Jewel" Enamel Dots. I also made sure to include a variety of sizes of these enamel dots, evenly distributed across the page.

Here's a final look at how my title page turned out! I'm looking forward to layering this on top of a bright wintery photo outside, that is, if it ever gets warm enough that I want to stay outside for a bit to snap a photo! XD I love the ethereal look of this cut file floating on the vellum page, and the wintery colors of this kit certainly give me winter vibes as well!

I hope this inspires you to look at using cut files and vellum as cover pages for your albums!  If you're creating a layout inspired by this page, be sure to tag me over on Instagram @ChouxPuffCreations so that I can see what you've created, and make sure to share you layouts over on the Citrus Twist Kits Facebook Page as well! Thanks for stopping by!

3 to inspire challenge recipe with Lory

Hello Friends! It's Lory here today! So happy to celebrate the weekend with a creative jump! Today I'm happy to share some new pages about my January 2021 Life Crafted Album. I am in love with the Seagrass album and super excited because it's almost complete! Wooohoooooo!

Today I have a a little and easy recipe to share with you to have the right creative inspiration jump to keep telling your everyday stories. There's nothing better than being at my creative disk and play with colors, and with all these so yummy goodies from Citrus Twist!  To be true these products , looking at them  using them make me feel so happy, I mean really happy, the sadness the bad thoughts go away from me when I create with Citrus Twist Products. I have a deep love for them it's so something that I can't explain with words.

So stop me Lol  I could write an entire book, LOL .

Here the recipe:

  1. Stamps
  2. Cut file
  3. Ticket and tags
TIPS FOR THIS RECIPE:

  • With stamps I usually create a title or I create a key word for my story. In this spread I have told with just pictures and many little phrases stamps what I would. My family, how much it means to me. I have used the gorgeous 6x8 Felicity ALPHABET  STAMPS .
  • I have used the cut file to create a sort of handmade patterned paper behind the little vellum door I created.  To give more attention to  the amazing cut file from Citrus Twist I used the foam double siede tape and the tone on tone tecnique. I have used one of the Placemats group cut files.
  • I love to add many details to my pages because they are what complete my creative flow. I added three lovely tags and tickets on the vellum door holding them with a little natural twine. Ticket and Tags are one of my favorite embellishments ever.

The beautiful wooden hearts Bites on the tag and on the cut file are from the beautiful embellishments from Citrus Twist.

On the right page I have inserted many pictures made in the same moment to create a Photo Booth. Everything complete with chipboards stickers, I love them to pieces!

So how about you? Join me to use these three and let me see your creations! You can share them also in our Facebook Fans group :)

Have a wonderful Saturday!
Love, Lory

3-to-Inspire with Patricia

Hello CTK Friends!  I am loving the new goodies each month, as always, but I do love going through some older favorites to use both new and old together!  It is really my favorite way to scrapbook.  Which leads me to the 3-to-Inspire for today:

1 - Use an older stamp, alphas, die cuts, papers, etc.

2 - Use the inspiration from others into your project.

3 - Use the new Picture Story Cut File.

For my older products, I pulled the Good Life and the Retro Hip Co & CT Collab stamp sets and a CTK kit pattern paper from my stash.  I love to organize those papers by color, so I can grab exactly what I need.  I find I use them more that way too!  For the inspiration from others...I have loved all the fold outs I'm seeing from the team.  I have done it before, BUT did you catch Nathalie's recent post here.  She used the digital TN Basics and duplicated that pattern to create the longer sheet she needed to then fold and punch!  I had to try it and now I am hooked!  I created my longer piece using the January Traveler's Notebook Basics on the left side, then used the stamps, and a combination of January digitals, die cuts, and the new February puffy hearts to finish with a photo.

The trickier part for me was I wanted the cut file to be on the larger side once you open that top flap, which means that the cut file has to fold with it.  I went for it and got it to work.  I had to use clips from my stash to keep it closed, but it works and exactly the look I wanted.  I combined a January die cut with it to add more color, and then created a grid with two more photos on this inside flap.

And again, used older pattern papers, one from the Sparkle and Shine.  Having my colors organized, I just grabbed what I needed and it all worked well together!  I wanted that gorgeous flower to have the pop of color with dark and light in that swirl.

My confidence was up having gotten that awesome trick from Nathalie to duplicate the TN Basics digital paper.  I needed this spread to continue with the same colors and patterns to balance, plus I knew I wanted all photos to fill the Instax pockets.  The vellum with the same printed TN Basics worked for me here.  It gave me the subtle texture repeating it from the left, and the vellum gave me a little bit of a break plus a place to journal so that I could have my beautiful colorful cut file on the left, and all four of the Instax pockets filled with photos and stamping.

Another thing I love about this spread is I got the entire week documented within these pages.  Give these ideas a try in your next project and be sure to share with us in the Facebook group!

Life Crafted with Lory

Hello friends! Happy Friday YAY! It's Lory here today to share a new Life Crafted spread, I adore the November Legendary Kits! They are gorgeous! I know I write this every single time I share a new pocket pages spread with you all but it's true! I am in love with these kits, they are just perfect to tell my stories and I feel so happy when I use them!

This time I have started my grateful album, I'm preparing myself to December and I want to be grateful I want to give thanks, I want to focus all my energies on the good!

I have created three starting pages, the 3x8, the vellum with a divider cut file Wild Child , it's so elegant and beautiful. the big 4x8 tag! Wow! This is just for me! So big as big is my way to write a lot! LOL Then I have added another spread about November stories of two 3x4 pockets and another one using one of my favorite page protectors,

I have mixed a lot of the main kit with digital stuff! The Digitals are so beautiful this month as always! I love to play along filling them with my stories.  I call them  pieces of heart!  For the 4x6 picture I have added many different little details from ephemera and digitals and I have played with the amazing Legendary 4x6 stamps! Amazing! I love the gact that on the back of them there is an images sheet where I can find how I can combine them! So Helpful!

Here some close ups

My advise is to not fill the pages with a lot of materials, focus on the little details that give meaning to your stories! Enjoy the storytelling creative process! It's something amazing !

Love, Lory

Life Crafted | Mini Album | Video | with Patricia

Hello CTK Friends!  Today I want to share a Life Crafted project using the August Scrapbooking Add-On kit.

This kit is a great mix of vintage soft colors but also a great mix of vibrant bold colors.  I pulled the soft colors for today's project!  I started by cutting pattern paper from the kit with the Affirmation Screen cut file.  The middle 'LOVE SELF' cuts out separately, so after backing everything, I foam adhered it to make it stand out even more.

I used the pattern paper cut out pieces from the cut file to stitch and frame my left side.  I chose a pattern paper background that was a complement to the overall colors of the blush, peach, and grey.  After adding my stamping with the Typewriter Alpha Set, and typed journaling, I started adding layers to mat under my photo.  The doily comes in the kit!  And then finished with trimming a die cut, adding stamping with Stories stamp, and embellishments from the Add-On.

The right side was perfect with the cut file cut from pattern paper and then partially backed with more pattern paper and the peach textured cardstock.  To create more motion from the cut file, I added the large butterflies from the Add-On.

I finished the bottom with a circle chipboard from the August Life Crafted kit, and stamping with the August Traveler's Notebook stamp set in grey and black for added interest and focus on 'reality strikes.'  I added black machine stitching all the way around the right page before adhering anything, and added the same stitching on the left side to create balance and repetition.

I have two more projects to share here that are part of the video this month on the Citrus Twist Kits YouTube channel.  You can watch the video in HD here or at the end of this post.  The first project uses the August Life Crafted kit and two new Instax photo page protectors coming soon!!!  You will love them!  The August kit is sold out, but the Stories stamp and cards from the kit are still available here!

The video shows the measurements of the photos and the trimmed cards to fit the pockets.

These new pockets are great for adding layers, especially for this beach trip.  I printed my photos to look like Instax photos, but if you have an Instax camera or printer, documenting trips will be super fun and quick with these pockets.

Inspired by the Instax photo size, the Stories Stamp set, and the clothing tags from my daughter's recent Justice shopping spree, I created this little mini album using the August Scrapbooking Add-On kit.

I used the Stories arch stamp image four different ways in this mini.  You can see how in the video below.

I created a pattern of using the trimmed pattern paper from the Add-On to the same size of the Instax, the foam flower embellishments from the kit (a must-have), and die cuts from the kit, alternating until I finished with the gold doily from the add-on kit as well!

You can watch the video here to see how I created these two projects.  Thank you so much for watching and joining me!!
