Sunday Sketch with Marci

Hello, thank you for joining me this Sunday for our Sketch challenge.  It is a very fun and creative one.

Here is the sketch we will be using. I loved the evergreen trees on this page. My original plan was to follow the sketch almost exactly. After making my trees, I liked them so much I did not want to cover them up. I therefore adjusted the sketch slightly.

Here is my final layout. I made the main page 7in wide by 8.25in tall to fit in my December Album this year. To include a longer story and more embellishing, I added two 3x4 journaling cards to the left side of the layout.

I used two Citrus Twist exclusive cut files for my trees.  All the papers, cards, and embellishments came from the OH WHAT FUN! kit. I think the black and white color palette with a pop of red is such an elegant look. I made sure to pull a bit of red into each area of the spread.

I used a white, glitter texture paste from my stash to paint the center tree. Similar to the sketch, I wanted it to have a snow-flocked look.  I then used a red marker to color in the stars on the cut file. It was a simple step that I think adds a lot to the design.

Here are a few more close-up looks.

Thank you for stopping by. I'd love to see what you create with this sketch.

3-to-Inspire | Patricia

Hello CTK Friends!  I'm happy to be joining you today for another 3-to-Inspire using the Oh What Fun kit and stamp set.  Let's get started!

  1. Pick a die cut from the kit to use as your color inspiration.
  2. Create an inked or mixed media background using the color inspiration.
  3. Use ribbon, stickers, and different color alphas.
I have found so many possibilities using the Oh What Fun kit with the various color options.  So I decided to do a totally different color idea in my December album.  I picked out the floral die cut that I wanted to base my colors on, and then I used a circle stencil to create my own 'bokah' background using inks in similar colors.

The beauty of an inked backbround like this, is I already have layers and texture, so I continued that with the different alphas available in the shop that went well with my project.  Then the last think I did was pull a sticker and ribbon from the kit to create a vertical and horizontal line.

The vertical and horizontal line creates direction and I also finished with stamping the hearts from the Oh What Fun stamp set to create my own journal card, one on the photo, but used a puffy heart for my larger focal point page.  All of these elements create a nice triangle across the two pages.

The stamp set and kit are so inspiring, I hope these three ideas give you a jumpstart to your next December project!

Sunday Sketch Challenge with Angela

Hello friends!
It's Angela back on the blog. I hope you are doing well in your part of the world.
Today is a fun one because it's Sunday Sketch Challenge. This is the sketch that we invite you to play with this week:

I'm a huge fun of 12" page but this time, I used the sketch as a starting point for day 7 of my December album. Here is what I came up with

Angela_Tombari_Citrus_Twist_Kits_Dec20_1

For my pages I used a 4"x8" Manila Tag and a beautiful gold foiled paper from Crate Paper, Marigold collection. To accomodate the paper into the Citrus Twist album, I cut it 5"x8" and punched the holes on the right side. I should say that I replicated the sketch on this side of the spread.

The embellishments I used are mainly from the Floral and the Tickets & Tags ephemera pack except for the title. 'This' die cut is from Sparkle & Joy Christmas 2020 kit. I adhered it on top of the page with a white stitching. Underneath, I stamped the word Documented that comes from Get Messy Stamp.

The opposite page consists of a Manila tag I purchased from the shop. Here is where I placed the journaling. I wrote it with my computer and I stamped it directly on the tag.

Here is also where I placed the day. I stamped number 7 on a piece of white vellum and I punched it with a 2" circle punch. The number is from Big Numbers Stamp. I like this stamp because it has 3 different fonts which allows me to vary the numbers on the album.

On both the pages, I added a few sequins that sweet Trina placed inside my box, to visually 'unify' the spread and voilà!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you liked how I played with the sketch and hopefully feel inspired to play along with us.
Love, NG

Sparkle & Joy with Patricia

Hello CTK Friends!  It seems like this year coming to a close soon and it will interesting to document December this year.  I'm so thankful to be documenting it with the gorgeous Sparkle & Joy kit!  Before December comes, I love to take my time and create with the kit contents with techniques, even stamping, anything that can take time, so that when December comes, I can be inspired to work on it in the evenings.  The first technique I did was to use the We R Memory Keepers Button Maker along with the pattern paper from the kit.  Once you get the hang of this amazing tool, it doesn't take long to create, and how nice to have my own flare ready to use.

My idea for these buttons is to use them on the cover of my Peacock Life Crafted Album.  I think they will just pop off the cover.  I created the three different sizes available, and will decide when time to adhere to my cover if I will use the large flare with the stamping or not.  I do have two other buttons with stamping, so I may leave it to just those two.

My next technique for preparing is using the kit cards with the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.  These are going to give my album the magical feel I love to show and express in my December album, and will be ready to just decide which day to use them on.

I used the Christmas Icons Cut File.  I cut and trimmed the bell to use as a stencil.  For the holly leaves, I cut them twice, once from pattern paper and the second way by altering it in the Silhouette Software to offset it and cut from white cardstock to use as a stencil.

For the star ornament with the poinsettia, I used it as a stencil for the inside part and a mask for the outside part.

I didn't discard the cut file for the star ornament, it was too pretty!  I am going to reuse it on another card I used the branches to stencil onto.  I love all the greens with that font in red on the card!

And here is a video showing you how I made my buttons and the cards!  Hope to give you some ideas to get ready for December with Sparkle & Joy!

3-to-inspire with Diane

Hi everyone, Diane here with another 3-to-inspire challenge for you! You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout, Traveler's Notebook page or a pocket page spread in your Life Crafted and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

Your prompts this week are:
  1. Use a pocket or two
  2. Create three clusters
  3. Add texture with stitching
Here’s my take on this challenge using the December Add-on kit ...

I created my pockets by trimming the middle row out of a 12x12 page protector and stitching it onto my background. This give me not only the four pockets for my photo and journaling cards, but also the space behind them as secondary pockets for adding hidden journaling or tags or extra photos if needed.

As well as stitching the pockets down, and leaving the threads nice and long so I could bunch them up and tuck them in, I also stitched pieces of ephemera together to create layers and texture.

The stick on the Snowflake puffy stickers isn't great, so I also used stitching to hold them in place. Go slowly and carefully when using your sewing machine through puffy stickers!

I created a smaller, flatter cluster at the top left, which begins to draw your eye through the layout from the top, through the photo ...

... into the title and middle cluster before ending at the bottom cluster. All the layers and texture create this cozy, fun, festive vibe which I really love!

Here's a look at the process this layout took ...

Thanks for stopping by today and I'd love to see any page you create using this challenge so don't forget to tag me and share in the Citrus Twist Facebook Fan page!

Sunday Sketch with Amanda!

Hi Citrus Twist Kit Friends!

It's Sunday, and that can only mean one thing - let's get our sketch on!!!
Amanda here, & I just love the Sunday Sketch challenge! Such a fun & relaxing way to start off the week!
Here's the sketch we're playing along with this week....

Isn't this a cool layout design?!
Here's my take on it....

"Xmas"

Oh, what a cutie! Such a lovely Christmas moment documented!

CTK Supplies | Pleasant Valley Pocket Life Kit, Pattern Paper Kit (Crate Paper Merry Days pattern paper), & the December Embellishment Kit.
Other: Watercolor paint droplets.

I have drawn on the colors in my darling photograph, and created a Christmas layout with no actual Christmas supplies. For this to be successful, I use a crisp white, mint and red color scheme, as well as puffy sticker stars and a reindeer die cut embellishment. Combined with my Christmas photo, it totally works! I have pretty much kept to the sketch design, only giving it a little Happy Arty Days twist!
Here's a few close ups for you.....

There are so many beautiful details here! From lovely layers to sweet embellishments - the Pleasant Valley Pocket Life Kit is really something!

Loving the Puffy Sticker title, and those layered tags!

I used those fabulous printed label stickers as my journaling, and the die cut hearts in place of the banner at the top of the page. Perfect!

Simple. Sweet. Sketch complete! Now it's your turn!
What will you create with this week's sketch?

Be sure to share your creating with us in the Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page HERE - we love seeing everything you make, & love to talk paper too!

Thanks so much for visiting today,

Travelers Notebook Challenge with Anna

Hi dear ones!

It's my premiere to host this happy challenge Travelers Notebook Challenge. I love creating in this format for a change to my usual layouts. So I've had a blast while creating this one and I hope you will like it as well.

And my challenge for you this time: Use any of our digital files on your spread (digital cutfile or printables) I've used one of the beautiful cut files, the Winter Snowflake, as my focal point on my spread.

Here's what I came up with using bits and pieces from the December Scrapbook kit, Pattern Paper Play kit and the Pocket Life kit as well.

One of my favorite from the CTK exclusive die-cut ephmeras (Pocket Life kit) is that cute little bambi and of course these puffy stickers as well. The cut file is just amazing too, it worked just perfect for my wintery skating pic.

Also I did add some machine stitching. I love the texture it brings to my design. Those classy black labels are also a winner. All the CTK exclusives are always something extra, yum!

And there you have it! Be sure to ask me if you are wondering about anything I've done on my pages and I will try to explain:)

Remember to share with us what you create with this challenge either on social media using @citrustwistkits or #citrustwistkits or on CTK friends page on Facebook.  I cannot wait how you interprete the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by! Anna xo
