An interactive data center map of 4,800 US facilities across 52 states and territories, holding 317 GW of capacity built, building, or announced. Click any site for its operator, its power draw, and the hazard and water-stress scores for the ground it sits on. Filter by size, build stage, climate risk or water stress.
dcmap.us tracks 4,800 US data center facilities: 3,687 operational, 229 under construction, 857 planned. Updated monthly from public sources. Full numbers →
Capacity figures are reported or estimated and cover about a third of facilities. Planned totals are announced targets. Methodology
Announced completion years for the 184 pipeline projects reporting both a target year and a capacity figure (139 GW). Announcements, not forecasts. Pipeline tracker →
Texas leads at 591 facilities, ahead of Virginia at 505. Counts include operational, under-construction and planned sites. All states →
Digital Realty runs the most sites at 226, ahead of Lumen at 217. Colocation operators hold many small halls, so the order shifts once you rank by megawatts. Full operator table →
This data center map tracks 4,800 US facilities across 52 states and territories: 3,687 operational, 229 under construction, and 857 planned or approved. Counts differ between sources because there is no standard unit for a data center. A campus, a building and a hall can each be counted as one.
Texas leads with 591 tracked facilities, ahead of Virginia at 505 and California at 411.
About 61.6 GW sits at facilities marked operational, out of 317 GW tracked. Megawatts are reported for 31% of operational facilities against 43% of planned ones, and where an operational site reports a figure the median is 10 MW against 200 MW for a planned campus. Much of the running fleet is older colocation space that never published a power figure, so the operational total understates what is actually running.
Northern Virginia (Data Center Alley) is the largest tracked market at 388 facilities, followed by Dallas–Fort Worth at 226. The map's pipeline view shows what is under construction and planned in each.
