DARK AGE - Saint Mark and his followers.

Well, AdeptiCon can really take it out of you. Four incredible days of non-stop action and conversations about all sorts of toy soldier goodness. I have basically been drained by it all, until now.

So, getting back to the Dark Age goodness these are my latest models, painted up since the start of February specifically for me to take to the CMON Expo and the big, end of season tournament, the Immortals! The Immortals is the tournament where the winner gets to work with the design team to create a new model (background, stats, art, and model) for the world. It's a pretty big deal, so I've been playing a lot with this force to prepare.

This is my Forsaken - St Mark sub-faction force. The Forsaken are the "last bastion of civilization" (or at least that's how they present themselves). Cunning politicians that plot and scheme and use religion to rule over the masses, the Prevailer Council is in charge, and regularly sends its "Saints" - or generals - off on missions of varying difficulty and value. St Mark is the first "Saint", and plays the role of brash and skilled leader to a tee (all the while hiding his true motivations and cowardice).

He is also quite the womanizer, so I have surrounded him with a force that can be entirely comprised of female models.

Saint Mark (on the left) carries God's Light, a very powerful pistol, and is accompanied here by The Sentinel, one of his lieutenants.

His close-range support come from the lithe and deadly Shades, accompanied here by Mark's other lieutenant, Hephzibah (center). The Hephzibah model is currently undergoing a resculpt, so I converted this one from one of the Shade models. : )

These ladies might seem quite fragile, and not a particular threat, but you'd be wrong in thinking that. They are the very brutal reason I decided to try this list out : )

Saint Mark has a tendency for his gun to malfunction. Including a Weaponsmith is very helpful (allowing me to ignore the first three malfunctions), and the stock Weaponsmith is on the right. On the left you can see my conversion for a female Weaponsmith.

Keeping Saint Mark and his Junkers alive is very important. The Sisters of Compassion (in the red latex) and the Field Medic (front) will do just that. Although I won't be running all of these at once, it's nice to have the regular Sister (left) and the Limited Edition Sister (right).

Firestorms are a very popular choice with Forsaken players, mostly because of their awesome flamethrowers.

These Militia are the cheapest models in my collection at just 25 points a piece. They'll be good for filling those 25 point gaps at the end of list building.

And finally the Haniels. These are infiltrators, and I thought I'd spend a bit of extra time messing about with their cloaks. Do you think it was worth it?

Cheers

WRATH OF KINGS - My Nasier collection

Sooooooooo busy! Working 60+ hours a week and raising two crazy kids. But enough of my excuses. MOAR toy soldiers!

Over the past nine months I've been working part-time for CoolMiniOrNot, anywhere from one to two weeks out of each month, focusing on marketing and promotional planning for Dark Age and Wrath of Kings. I know I've posted some of my Dark Age minis before, but not my WOK stuff.

Well, today that changes. I've ben in a bit of a frenzy lately, painting up the second half of my Nasier collection so that I can take it with me over to see the team at Beasts of War. That's right, we'll be filming a bunch of videos about Wrath of Kings and I wanted to have PLENTY of options to discuss with the guys.

So, here they all are, ready to be packed away into a suitable travel case.

Above are my Ashmen Swordsmen, with two Ashmen Hakars (their leaders).

Here are my Pelegarth Bloodmasks, with two Pelegarth Howls (their leaders).

And above are my first Rank 2 Infantry, the Fel Hammers, led by one of The Unmasked.

These are my current Rank 1 Specialists. From left to right: The Longhorn, Arkazan Greatwing, and the Rathor.

These are my recently completed Rank 2 Specialists. From left to right: Shadrus Arikim, The Bloodchild, and the Blind Hakar.

And finally, my Rank 2 Leaders. From left to right: Elsis Tagil, Alyana Heska, and Arkan Thesh.

Wrath of Kings is a great game, where your tactical decisions on the tabletop can make or break your game. No unit is unstoppable, here's a counter to everything, ad good decision making is key.

Also, CMON provides the rules and units cards for free on the WOK website, if you want to check it out HERE : )

DARK AGE - Some more Outcasts!

While waiting for a recent order of Salt Flat Nomads to arrive, I decided to add to my expanding collection of Dark Age models by painting up some "generic" Outcasts in the form of two Wasteland Warriors and two Scuts.

I hope you like them. More Salt Flat Nomads next time. : )

Starting on some Dark Age models.

In my last post (HERE) I noted that I had done some Marketing Planning for Cool Mini or Not (CMoN). Towards the end of last year I put together a plan to help grow their two miniatures games - Wrath of Kings and Dark Age. The folks at CMoN liked my plans and have asked me to join them on a part-time basis during 2016 to see the plans implemented. Of course I've said yes : )

I've been working hard to get a warband together for Dark Age, a sci-fi skirmish game that's been around for a while and has gone through various waves and cycles, but now stands as a great game backed with beautiful miniatures that just needs to get a bit of traction.

For quite some time Dark Age has had the "Post-Apocalyptic" moniker attached to it, and the core event that began to shape the planet of Samaria as it is now was an "apocalypse" of sorts. Five hundred years prior to the current time, the planet suffered a massive economic collapse causing all sorts of companies to pull up stakes and run, leaving behind their expendable workers. But now, five centuries later, the collapse is only a thing of legend and the various alien races that have since landed on the planet (and the extreme conditions of the planet itself) are a bit more a concern than any apocalypse.

Anyway, I was drawn immediately to the Outcast faction (my love of "man against the fantastic" showing through again) and decided to start with the exceptional models of the Salt Flats Nomads sub-faction. Here are the models I've painted up over the last couple of weeks. The schemes are drawn directly from the CMoN Studio models)

This is Bendahrin Durshe, Bladelord of the Tribe, Leader of the Salt Flats Nomads. I love the pose, the detailing, and particularly the bone tulwar (sword).

This big fellow is Kane, the Hand of the Bladelord. Unlike the other nomads, Kane wears a massive suit of bulky armor and he wields the massive Kestrel.

These Tribal Warriors are absolutely beautiful! Lightly-equipped with exceptionally sharp tulwars and poisoned hand crossbows, I'm hoping they'll be as lethal as they are good looking.

These Nomad Herders are the models that grabbed my attention as I was searching through the Dark Age galleries. Again, the poses are fantastic, and their masks are just the right amount of surreal for me.

And for my first set of beasts herded by my... well, herders... I've gone for the razor-winged Vrocks. Excellent sculpts, and cast in awesome resin!

I'm off to Atlanta tomorrow to chat with the CMoN folks and get things started. I'll also be getting in a few games of Dark Age. Let's see if my initial choices were good ; )

Cheers
