Are you wasting your money on Magic cards? MTG booster boxes are really exciting to buy and own. Thereโs always the exciting mystery of what could be in the box for your collection, or a night of some drafting or sealed fun with your friends. The only downside is they can get very pricey, so itโs worth trying to get them at wholesale prices when possible.
Today I explore the different ways to get your hands on wholesale MTG booster boxes so you get the most bang for your buck. The saying goes that Magic is a game of expensive cardboard, so letโs see if we can cut some of those costs a bit!
How Much Do Retailers Get Booster Boxes For?

I spoke to a local retailer to get an idea for the average cost of MTG booster boxes and was quoted โabout $100, but usually a little over $100.โ The manager couldnโt give me exact figures.
This particular retailer is a local game shop that carries more than just Magic products, it has a healthy selection of MTG products and accessories and a fairly large community of players. It sells booster boxes anywhere from $130 up depending on the set.
While I always encourage supporting local game stores, sometimes you want to save a few bucks on your collection. This is why you wanna look at wholesale offerings too.
Whatโs the Typical Retail Price?

Thereโs no โtypicalโ retail price since the cost of an MTG booster box can vary greatly depending on the set (e.g., a booster box from Streets of New Capenna would be a fraction of the cost of a Double Masters box).
Most boxes hover around the $110 range, plus or minus around $20 depending on the set. The lower range tends to be about $90 while newer or more popular sets go upwards of $150. These arenโt very far off from what youโd pay at full retail price.
Places to Get Wholesale Magic Booster Boxes

There are plenty of resources online to get MTG booster boxes for cheap. Letโs go over some resources for getting Magic booster boxes at wholesale prices.
#5. Supply Leader
At Supply Leader you can find lots of wholesale items on top of Magic booster boxes. You need to create an account to request wholesale pricing, as most of these places do. Once you create an account, though, you should be all set.
#4. Midwest Cards
The selection for Magic cards is slim at Midwest Cards but the whole cases are there at about the same cost you could find the cards for elsewhere online. Their shopping interface is clear and straightforward, So it largely depends on who has the stock of what cards you're looking for.
#3. Hillโs Wholesale Gaming
Like most wholesale retailers variety and supply of booster boxes can vary, but Hillโs Wholesale Gaming has some of the lowest prices Iโve seen online. They ship out of Pennsylvania and accept a number of secure payment methods.
#2. eBay
While it may not seem that intuitive, eBay might still net you some of the cheapest booster box options you can find. Iโve seen several draft booster boxes for well under $100.
eBay is also a generally safe place to grab booster boxes, especially if the seller has sold hundreds of them.
#1. Alibaba
I canโt mention eBay without also mentioning Alibaba. If you donโt mind waiting for longer shipping times, you can get MTG booster boxes from Alibaba at prices well under what youโd find them for from Amazon or typical online retailers like TCGPlayer.
The downside is that most options you find require you to buy a significant minimum number of units or boxes.
Wrap Up

These are just some of the places where you can find Magic booster boxes at wholesale prices, or at least prices cheaper than what your LGS might sell them for. While I always encourage you to support your local game stores as much as you can, they may often be out of stock of the particular boxes you want, or maybe you want to save a good chunk of cash.
Do you know of any other places to get your hands on booster boxes for wholesale (or just a cheaper) price? Let me know in the comments below or over on the Draftsim Twitter.
Thatโs all from me. Remember, you can't draft with singles. Stay safe, stay healthy, and wash your hands!

My 25 year old son had invested thousands in his Magic the Gathering cards. His car was broken into, and the bag containing his cards was taken 2 years ago. He is getting married, and his 20 year old brother would like to surprise him for his bachelor party to play a booster set he has wanted, but is older. Can you assist me, the mom who has been requested to see if I can purchase it, but quite over my budget. It is anywhere from $700 to $800 every site Iโve looked on.
Do you know where I can find this new at a discounted price? I greatly appreciate your help.

Hi Rita – yes, unfortunately the market price of this set has gone up over 10 years because it contains some very valuable cards. There isn’t really an alternative to get unopened Innistrad cards for cheaper. I would suggest you send your other son some of our alternative suggestions from this article and maybe they can find another set that is really fun: https://draftsim.com/mtg-best-draft-set/
So are the booster boxes from alibaba legit? Everybody I’ve talked to says it’s too good to be true and they’ll be fake product.
If it’s legitimate, it seems like a pretty easy way to make a bit of money and opened some packs from sets you really want.
Typically, yes. However, like the article mentions, you’ll need to buy large bulk quantities upfront, which will also likely come with higher shipping costs depending on where you live.
