Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Level crossing, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Youtube is not a valid source for this information, per WP:UGC. Furthermore, what you are adding is trivia and not fit for Wikipedia. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 12:58, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of unsourced trivia

[edit]

Hello, Please stop adding trivia to Level crossing. Wikipedia is not for indiscriminate trivia unsupported by references. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 13:20, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The reference is the Dutch Wikipedia. That is allowed.(as far as i know) Earlier translations and additions were no problem. Straatspoor (talk) 13:29, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And it is not indiscriminate, because it is indicated by country. Straatspoor (talk) 13:35, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a reference called "numerous youtube videos" without even specifying what videos are being referenced is never acceptable. Additions such as "the trains honk at the crossings" are trivia not of interest to the average reader.
To be clear, I do appreciate that you are improving this article, which has plenty of room to be expanded. But you need to include proper references when doing so. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 13:39, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion it is not trivia. It's extra information. It makes the article even more interesting. Moreover, Wikipedia has the rule: ignore all the rules. Be a little tolerant. Straatspoor (talk) 13:50, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Are you familiar with WP:IIAR? Because that comes into play right now. Your additions have been reverted by several editors now. Perhaps you should consider that there is a general consensus that the type of content you are adding is not relevant to the article. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 13:53, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The only reference i have is the Dutch Wikipedia. And the images that everyone on You Tube can check. Straatspoor (talk) 13:57, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm familiar with WP:IIAR,but it's so noncommittal and at same time not that it doesn't help me much."ignore the rules, but still don't". Straatspoor (talk) 14:06, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Several editors? There are 2. You can not call that a consensus. Straatspoor (talk) 14:14, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If your only reference is Dutch Wikipedia, then you cannot add this information. Citing Wikipedia, even another language version, without references is not allowed. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 14:27, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to look for real references. Straatspoor (talk) 15:11, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references, as you did to Street running train! However, you should know that adding a bare URL is not ideal, and exposes the reference to linkrot. It is preferable to use proper citation templates when citing sources. A bare URL is a URL cited as a reference for some information in an article without any accompanying information about the linked page. In other words, it is just URL copied and pasted into the Wiki text, inserted between <ref>...</ref> tags, without title, author, date, or any of the usual information necessary for a bibliographic citation. Here's an example of a full citation using the {{cite web}} template to cite a web page:

Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.

which displays inline in the running text of the article as:

Lorem ipsum[1] dolor sit amet.

and displays under References as:

1. ^ Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac". Ask a Question. Canon Inc. 2022. Retrieved 2022-04-02.

If you've already entered one or more bare urls to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations; try the reFill tool, which can resolve some bare references semi-automatically. Once again, thanks for adding references to articles, and to avoid future link rot, please consider supplementing your bare URLs—creating full, inline citations with title, author, date, publisher, etc. More information can be found at Wikipedia:Inline citations. Thank you. Ironmatic1 (talk) 18:36, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vraagje

[edit]

Cheers Lotje (talk) 03:29, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Only me again... puur uit nieuwsgierigheid (zo ben ik nu eenmaal): zegt de naam Lidewij jou iets? Lotje (talk) 04:49, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Beste Lotje. That word came trough the translation. That's why I'm now writing in English. "Of course" I know Lidewij, on WP, but also on Wikisage.
Most mistakes have been quietely🤫 fixed by others in the meantime. But if I find new ones I'll will pass them on to you. ⚠️ You run the risk of being accused of "aiding the enemy".
I advise you to take all accusations against me very critically, because is it one big one-sided POV😡 without a response (since I've been blocked). Nearly everything is twisted/misunderstood. Don't let yourself be 😵‍💫indoctrinated😵‍💫 by them. I would therefore like to see that someone add that it is totally one-sided and dishonest, and that someone removes those links to this public pillory. I am not a shoplifter; that is not how you treat people.
Mvg, Straatspoor.
🔴 This is a private message; I urgently request others not to respond, please. Straatspoor (talk) 06:11, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers. Lotje (talk) 15:19, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you mean Automatic Intelligence, I don't use that.
Romaine also responded very correctly at that time, but it doesn't help. My case is similair to the larger drama with Jürgen Eissink in 2016. 8 years later, things are still being brouht to a head, despite all the rules. Recently at Matroos Vos. WP is sometimes a battlefield. I'm going to turn on the email function. Only for Lotje.
⛔️ Others users please do not respond.
Mvg, Straatspoor. Straatspoor (talk) 04:37, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Now it says "mute this user" instead of "email this user" Lotje (talk) 04:59, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
