In the study “Immediate effect of the elastic knee sleeve use on individuals with osteoarthritis” by Byrk et al 2011 they found that just adding a knee sleeve may produce significant results in terms of pain reduction and improved function ☝🏽 The only variable that changed was the knee sleeve. The results were considered significant. Even if by just a few points- it still is very promising‼️ Combining with exercise

Living well with osteoarthritis with Dr Alyssa Kuhn

I loved this interview with Dr Alyssa Kuhn, a specialist in osteoarthritis, but also just generally managing pain as we age. We mostly assume pain is a natural part of aging, but Alyssa argues it really isn't, and there's much we can do to stay active and (relatively) pain-free long term. But we need to do the work, not just sit back and let pain happen. Cos that's the surest way that it will happen! So much goodness here about staying fit and healthy for as long as possible.

It is very common to think “no pain, no gain” but that’s just not the case with hip arthritis ☝🏽 Yes, some discomfort can be common but flaring your hip significantly isn’t going to relieve your pain Instead it can just make your hip angrier 😡 I know it’s not always easy to limit your walking but be mindful of what to expect and how you can pace your day when starting out ✅ Please keep in mind this is only

37K views · 1.8K reactions | Down the stairs with ease ☝🏽

When going down the stairs you need single leg control. You basically are slowing lowering your bodyweight on one leg as you go down each step ⤵️

You need to be comfortable putting almost full bodyweight through one leg with a bent knee 🦵🏽

This exercise can be one way to begin mastering this skill ✅

The weight is 100% optional and I encourage to master WITHOUT weight first. Use railing support if you need to as this movement can also challenge balance ⚠️

5-8 repetitions may be a good place to start on each side.

If this doesn’t feel good right now and causes significant pain- that’s okay! There are many different ways to modify.

In the membership, Adventurers for Life, you’ll work up to be able to climb up and down stair
