Complementary medicine

Integrative medicine for multiple sclerosis (MS) may offer relief when used with disease modifying drugs (DMD). Sometimes known as integrative health, or complementary and/or alternative medicine, integrative medicine includes techniques that have not been traditionally part of conventional Western medicine. In many cases, these therapies are being successfully combined with conventional medicine.

Ayurveda is a system of medicine based on the idea that disease is caused by an imbalance or stress in a person's consciousness.

Types of therapies used in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in cancer care, such as mind-body methods like meditation and yoga, or biologically-based like herbs and vitamins. Massage, reiki, acupuncture, and traditional medical systems are included. Also mentioned are talking to your doctor about CAM and the safety of CAM.

The word Complementary means something that adds value to another. Complementary medicines and therapies with conventional allopathic medicines treat people more effectively. Complementary medicines help in making modern treatments more effective.

Alternative medicine is a big buzz word that I hear often in the medical community, and is used instead of standard medical care.
