The Reason for the Season!

Celebrate the Reason for the Season!

I enjoy creating Christmas cards and love this slimline card idea! I created a card base using various trees for my background and added distress inks for shading. I then added a strip of the Cardinal Holly Washi tape mounted on cardstock. I cut and distressed my circle and added my sentiment, embellishing with the beautiful, detailed Cardinal brads and mounted with foam tape. Lastly, I added my creation on cardstock lined with the red and shite stripe washi.

Here We Come A-Caroling

The Eyelet Outlet Caroler Brads are out on the town, singing their joyful holiday song!

It's a beautiful night under a Star Night, Star Bright sky, with Sparkle White Glitter Tape snow glistening on the pretty Penny Black Build-a-House diecut village. Accents of Brick Washi and Wood Washi are scattered throughout the homes, with scraps of tan, brown and white patterned paper adding variety. A Wreath Brad, some Snowy Trees and a friendly Snowman complete the design.

The Eyelet Outlet Online Store has all the Brads, Tapes, Bling, Enamels and sequins you need to create holiday cards, tags, giftwrap and more; and the EO Blog has all the ideas you need to inspire your next creation!

A Walk in the Woods

As much as we enjoy seeing the leaves return in the spring, there is definitely something to be said for the loveliness of bare trees, where we can see the trunks and the branches... and any wildlife that might be passing... so clearly. In this case, the wild life consists of Eyelet Outlet Deer Brads, in a forest where a few Snowflake Brads are softly falling. There are also four styles of EO Washi on this A2 card: Wood TapeTwig TapeGlitter Copper and Glitter Tall Tree Tape.

The woods are created with Penny Black's Woodland Scene dies, which look wonderful with both pieces stacked together; but it turns out they look equally nice when used singly, as on this slimline version. The trees have been cut from cardstock to which neat strips of Sparkle White Glitter Tape have been applied, to make a sparkling snowy scene. All three styles of our Cardinal Brads (Cardinals, Female Cardinals and Profile Cardinals) stand out beautifully against the snowy trees and blue sky, while flurries of Red Snowflake Bling drift downwards.

There are plenty more birds and beasts, flora and fauna, in the Eyelet Outlet Store, you should probably go and check them out!

HOPPY Birthday

Nothing makes for a more RIBBET-ing birthday card than Eyelet Outlet Frog Brads. As if the frogs themselves weren't already cute enough, the sets also come with cattails, plus purple and yellow waterlilies. So you basically have all the ingredients for an entire scene... (and inspiration for an appropriately punny sentiment!) ...in just ONE little pack of brads!

You could make a wonderful card with just an inky background and some Wide Sky Washi Tape, but in this case, I stamped the pond edge from Sunny Studios' Country Scenes set, colored it with Tombow Dual Brush pens to perfectly match the brads, and added a sweet little Mini Butterfly, which is on sale. I hope you'll agree this card is TOAD-ily awesome!

can never resist a diabolical pun!

Warm Winter Wishes Slimline

It's Janet here for Eyelet Outlet. EO has so many perfect brads and washi for holiday cardmaking. It's literally hard to figure out what you want to use!

Today I have a holiday slimline card featuring the new Female Cardinal Brad. It pairs so perfectly with the Cardinal Profile and Cardinal Brad sets that have been carried a while in the store. The Holly Brads are also so versatile and can be used on any holiday card. I used one here as part of the cluster that the cardinals are perched on. I also used Snowflake Brads in the background.

It's also easy to bling up your cards using EO washi and bling. Here I used Glitter Silver Washi and Sparkle Red Glitter washi for the mat and for the border going through the card. Just apply the tape to cardstock and cut with your favorite die or electronic cutter. So easy and you waste hardly anything!

As a finishing touch, I added some White Pearl Bling and Green Jewel Bling to the middle of the snowflakes. So pretty!

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you visit the store and get your holiday card making started.

Happy Creating Everyone!

Back to School!

This seems like an especially significant Back to School season, so I (Lauren) thought I'd make a nice big slimline card with some of my favorite school-themed Eyelet Outlet Brads.

School Bus Brads are one of my all-time favorite designs, so I'm always excited to use one prominently. I've also added a Book Brad (in the colorful variant, rather than the more neutral; each pack has both), a laptop from the Computer and Headphones set, an Apple Brad and... mostly because they are the right color and size... some Mini Ladybug Brads

wishes you a happy

Coffee Bean Balloons??!?!?

Here is a card that's 100% inspired by Sarah Galli Jimenez, who posted two brilliant coffee bean balloon cards in our Eyelet Outlet Fan Group on Facebook and I (Lauren) loved them so much, I had to try to make my own slimline version!

I arranged (but didn't attach) the balloon bouquet of Coffee Bean Brads, mixed with Heart Brads in white and pink, so that I could lightly pencil in the balloon strings and machine stitch over them, before affixing the brads. I stamped and colored Riley and Co's Midge with Coffee (in Ground Espresso Distress Archival, obviously!) and added a Coffee Cup Brad over the mug that's in the original image; the sentiment is from Wendy Vecchi's Birthday Bash Stamp, Stencil and Die set. Finally, I made a super-fun background paper by lining up strips of Eyelet Outlet Donut Tape on plain white cardstock and used it to frame up the panel.

I love this idea so much that now I'm wondering if there are more brads I could make into balloons?! Stay tuned to see what I come up with in future! Meanwhile, thank you, Sarah Galli Jimenez for sharing this wonderful idea with us!

Summer Vibes

Summer in New Jersey can be pretty hot and very humid, but it's still my (Lauren's) favorite season, and here's a card that celebrates some of my favorite summer treats, in Eyelet Outlet Brad form!

I used a favorite set of bold alphabet stencils and six sizzling shades of Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick, Mermaid Lagoon, Spiced Marmalade, Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron to be precise) to write the word, "Summer" across my slimline-sized panel. I matted the whole thing on a piece of white cardstock covered in strips of Color Wheel Washi, then added a nice selection of brads, including: Beach UmbrellaFlip Flop BradsMini LadybugCocktail BradsMini EmotionTall PalmSandcastleFlamingoColored Daisy BradsMini BeesIce CreamSun and Pastel Sunglass Brads. I hope whatever your favorite Summer Vibes might be, that you'll enjoy a few of them today!

would not mind an ice cream

Life Really is Better in Flip Flops

Amongst the new Eyelet Outlet Summer Brad release are Flip Flops, which come with three colors in each pack: brown, black and hot pink. Amazingly enough for me (Lauren) I didn't use the pink ones first??!

Rest assured that pink is still my favorite color, but in this case, as I worked on the card, these ancient cork alphabet stickers, plus our beautiful Shell BradsShell Corners and Sea Shore Brads meant my card was becoming distinctly neutral and natural, so I opted for the brown Flip Flops this time. A scattering of pearls finishes off my slimline shoreline card design.

Other new releases include our Boat and Lighthouse BradsWhite Daisy Brads and Dragonfly Brads. Be sure to check back often to see inspiring ideas from the design team!

Happy (Almost) Father's Day

It's nearly Father's Day, but there's still a little time to make an extra-special card featuring some of the things Dads love: grillin'... (thanks to Eyelet Outlet BBQ Brads); chillin'...  (courtesy of our Beer Brads); and crusin' down the highway... with our Classic Car Brads!

Here's fair warning regarding my (Lauren's) cards for the rest of the summer: I am OBSESSED with the new Extra-Wide Sky Washi Tape! At 50mm (almost 2") you can cut a nice, long, easy-peel strip and that's the whole sky on a slimline card. I punched cardstock grass to meet it about a third of the way, et voila... instant landscape! I spelled out the central word of my "Happy Father's Day" sentiment in chunky cork alphabet stickers and clustered my BBQ BradsBeer BradsClassic CarsMini BeesSun and Cloud Brads around them; then added a thin yellow cardstock mat and a slightly thicker one made of Wood Washi, to serve as a frame.

There are plenty of other traditional Dad-related items in the EO Store; you could rock a Camping theme... Fishing theme... a Food and Drink theme... a Motorcycle theme... or a Tool theme; and if your Dad is less traditional, I bet we still have something fun that will work!

is still loving slimline cards!

Have a Magical Day

It's been a while since I (Lauren) have made a card with the lovely Eyelet Outlet Fairy Brads, and I've been missing them! So here's a "magical" slimline card:

I used a favorite alphabet stencil to add the word "MAGICAL" in exactly the right shades of Distress Oxide Ink to coordinate with all four Fairy Brads that come in each packet!

I used white foam alphas to finish the sentiment and added the Fairy Brads, a few Mini Stitched Flowers and some Blue Sequins for a bit of sparkle. I machine-stitched the panel onto my slimline card base that I made from a super-thick transparency, so it magically seems to float.

I hope you are having a Magical... and creative... day! ♥

wishes the fairies could also
magically send the cards and
maybe do a little laundry?
