Hi all
I’ve started using the preview app on iPad M4 pro, and for some reason i can only open any file one single time. After that it simply refuses to open that file again.
It just shows the downloading “Blue circle” but it never completes

Has anyone experienced this also???

I cannot reproduce this at all. From the screenshot you are accessing shared files where exactly?

Preview is still buggy when opening larger pdf files . I am trying to annotate a medical book which is 150 mb large and it keeps crashing and sometimes the entire iPad is forced to restart

I don't understand why Preview opens with a file picker in front of what looks like two windows. The first of which is only visible on the top half and has buttons for New Document or Scan Documents. And behind that there appears to be another window, which can't be seen or reached in any way. Is that third hidden window supposed to be a background?

Preview is still buggy in 26.0.1. ☹️

Open a pdf, then go back to the Home Screen. Tap the icon in the Dock for your open pdf, and you get a new Preview window instead.

Okay, so use Exposé to get back to your open pdf instead. When you do that, the pdf is zoomed to 150% or something, instead of the 100% that you had it at before. And there’s a chance (I see this inconsistently) that the sidebar will reappear in the document window if you’ve hidden it.

This lack of attention to obvious details is an embarrassment.

You could try the Acrobat app now that you can change a file to open with a different application with “Always Open With”. One of the new wonders of iPadOS 26.

I tried my best to replicate what you described, and I got none of that behavior. I'm running 26.1 public beta 2.

Yes, I am thinking about something like that, because Preview doesn’t retain state between sessions, and so doesn’t really qualify as a pdf reader per se (which is perfectly fine).
