Frequently Asked Questions

Does FocusDim work on multiple monitors?

Yes. FocusDim supports multi-monitor setups and dims inactive windows across all connected displays.

Can I adjust the darkness level?

Yes. Dimming opacity goes from 10% up to 90%. You can also change the dim colour.

How do I toggle it on and off?

Press Ctrl+Shift+D to toggle the dimming effect, or click the system tray icon.

Is FocusDim good for ADHD?

It can help if moving windows and new messages pull your attention away: the other windows stay visible but darker than your task. It isn't a treatment, and it doesn't stop notifications. Our ADHD set-up guide covers strengths and settings to try.

Is FocusDim the same as Focusdim on the Mac App Store?

No. FocusDim is made by PeakFlow and runs on Mac and Windows as part of the PeakFlow app. Focusdim on the Mac App Store is a separate app by another developer.

How does FocusDim compare with HazeOver and free dimmers?
