Depth Resolution ? #648

going for a higher depth resolution can help with fine/thin details and can clear up smearing along edges better than a lower res, you have to find a balance between resolution and speed thats good for your system, at a depth resolution of 1080 using the depth anything v3 model i get around 2fps process speed with the inpainting fill on my rtx 4080, if you are using a model that isnt depth anything v3 i wouldnt go too much higher than 512, there does seem to be a tiny bit more flicker with much higher res depth maps but barely, the limit to source was added after i suggested it when depth anything 3 got added as it can go much higher res than most models and if you convert a batch of images or videos of various resolutions if a video is lower than your set depth res it will use the video res as the depth res instead which means it will convert faster and not be wasteful |

Thank you I'll def try it out just out of curiosity is the default option the same as the 512 option or does it depend on the source ? |

The default values depend on the depth estimation model. but they're usually smaller than 512 or 518 (384 or 392, for example). #168 |

i think the VDA_L native res is 518 and depth anything 3 is 504 |

Thank you everyone for the input I agree with VDA L the depth resolution looks much better at 518 |

So what is the equivalent for Any V3 Mono-1, if I find that 512 and 518 work best for Any V2 and VDA L respectively ? |

Hello Nagadomi, hope you are well. :)
I just wanted to ask how does Depth Resolution affect a conversion of a film, we have a default option, 512, and some people going higher than that. From my understanding it increases the depth disparity and also slows conversions the higher it goes, but are there any downsides to having a high number of depth resolution ? For example does it increase stuttering or shimmering effects and do you recommend me to keep the "limit to source" checkbox off ?
Thank you for everything you do.
