+1 for the ability to turn off the "For you" tab. If I want to see updates from someone, then I'll follow them. |

It's not a social media, we don't need for you, there's a reason we follow people/companies to see their updates, and if you are gonna have for you then delete explore. Either make following default or not have this please. |

What a disaster. I liked the previous feed because it showed who has starred my public repos. I actually enjoyed looking at who has starred and forked various repos and seeing the global reach that my software has. The new feed? I get none of that. I can't even find any of my own repos in the feed. Am I more important? No. I'm just curious about who finds my software next and where in the world they live and if they've got any interesting projects. Most people don't have anything interesting but sometimes some hardcore engineer with some crazy stuff will star or fork something. I've learned a whole bunch of city names and places in the world and generally just say, "Hey, that's pretty cool that someone in Namibia starred that repo. An anonymous person forked that repo. I can respect that they want their privacy. Oh look, someone in Brazil starred two repos! Cool! ..." And then I just move on from there. I don't need my "feed" to be any more complex or more "social" than that. The only positive about the new feed is the "Trending" section. I think that is fine, IMO, because it is easy to lose touch with what's going on in the world when I bury my head in code for a while. It might also turn up some interesting new repos that the community thinks is cool. However, everything else about the new feed I'm very much "100% Not Interested" and I just want the old feed back. |

Funny how I somehow got opted into this beta crap but can’t opt out anymore. Typical Microsoft. |

You can use uBlock Origin to just remove the element. or maybe the "Filter" works on the top right. |

To all the management and staff of github: go ****** your selves. I absolutely despise all people like you that ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS want to take a perfectly good service and convert it into an msn / reddit / intersectional cult social media site. Stop. Just stop. Give me a way to turn off this nonsense so I never have to see this nonsense. |

Deselecting all from the filter disables all "for you" content. This is a temp fix for most of my issue with the home page. |

I have absolutely ZERO interest in having algorithmic content shoved in my face, none of which is even relevant or of interest to me. Please allow me to completely disable this feature. |

I would really like for there to be an option to disable this or at least to instead default to the "Following" tab. It is very annoying that the "For you" tab is chosen for me every now and then as I have no interest in using it. |

It's not that bad |

I am all in for this option. Github is NOT social media. Dont turn it into social media, I am not on social media for a reason. All I want to see is who starred my repo's, and work from people that I follow. The 'for you' algorithm does not give me suggestions I'm interested in, and it clutters the home page. |

Cory Doctorow: https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/#hey-guys I mean, they literally call the tab "For You," despite the at this point infamous enshittification of Twitter that all started with the enshittifying of their "For You" tab. The "For You" tab here isn't so bad. Oh well. You can easily ignore it. But it is a clear and distinct sign. We've all sat and watched many "too big to fail" platforms get enshittified to failure, or near-failure, at this point. Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reddit. The semi-successful platforms that just couldn't be enshittified were simply abolished after being purchased by big companies or deemed unprofitable-via-enshittification: Vine, Yik Yak, 50 different actually useful google services. Github isn't going anywhere for some time I'm sure, because Microsoft isn't going anywhere ever, but it's for me the first blaring warning sign of the enshittification of Github. Luckily there's decent FOSS alternatives, like Gitlab, that you can deploy your own instance of so as to permanently avoid enshittification. I find "For You" to be an insult on Twitter/X as well as Instragram as well as GitHub. I'll decide what's for me. The whole point of the follow system is to indicate yourself what you want to follow. Shoving unwanted content in our faces will not garner our respect or appreciation. If the For You tab was the secondary, non-default tab, I wouldn't have this issue at all. It's the audacious presumption that we're interested, more even than in what we chose to follow, that I find dumb as well as insulting. |

Exactly, I use github mainly to look up my own repos in order to reference something. It's my github, why can't my repos be displayed front and center when I am logged in and go to github.com? |

Hate, Hate, Hate the idea of a For You page, get it the hell out of here, delete the code and fire the exec who pushed for it to be put in our faces. |

This reads very much only like a shallow ploy to boost engagement, and have people spend longer on the app in order to serve more adverts or whatever. If it isn't: Also make it opt in and not the default. If it is: Of course, the risk of doomscrolling is less than something like Twitter or Instagram, since Github generally doesn't have that much controversial things on it (except for Google's DRM changes...). If that is the case, why are you even bothering with this feed then, if you can't use it to pull people in to get ensnared by drama? |

Not interested in a quasi-social feed at all, even less when using my work account; it's confusing and possibly dangerous in the long run.
There should an option to disable the tab.
