Hi folks,
Quick update from our previous discussion: we’ve finished migrating all code from
mdn/interactive-examplesinto mdn/content. With this, we’re setting theinteractive-examplesrepo to read-only.What’s new?
Interactive examples (which power the examples you see in the “Try it” section on our reference pages, like this one) are now inline using the new
{{InteractiveExample}}macro, you can see how to use it in our writing guidelines. This means no more separate repo or bob (archived May, ’25) builds, everything lives directly in content and translated-content now.
A huge thank-you to the 280+ contributors who helped build and maintain this repo over the years. 🎉
Your work has made MDN a more practical, hands-on resource millions of developers rely on.
And if you contributed to Interactive examples, we'd especially love to highlight your work on our Community page, please fill out this form. If you’d like to nominate yourself or your peers as a Spotlight Contributor, please start an issue here.
Looking ahead
We will also decommission the interactive-examples infrastructure (e.g., font-synthesis). However, since some external sites are still embedding interactive examples, we will continue to serve them until further notice.
If you or your projects rely on interactive-examples, please leave a comment to let us know how you’re using them.
Thank you,
The MDN Team
