BTW it looks like i solved the problem with disconnections by real short USB 3.0 cable. |

My thoughts on disconnections during video playback.
I have win 10 64bit, gtx 1050 ti (580.81 driver).
RAM 16gb. CPU ryzen 5 5600x
I watch films via heresphere VR player (SteamVR).
I have Pico 4 ultra.
I'm using wired connection via USB hub(7 usb slots with 7 buttons on\off + power supply)
I read recently that disconnections during playback in most cases - wrong encoder or encoder bug (NVENC or HVEC)
I tried to change bitrate, software\hardware encoders (AV1), nvidia drivers.
But nothing helped - random disconnections 6-8 during 2 hours of video playback.
Every time after crash i need to relaunch SteamVR - open video player - choose video file to play. And this is annoying.
But the same disconnection problem with "PICO connect" (wired connection) every 2-3 minutes and disconnect!
i have noticed that in "PICO connect" in headset, after disconnect appears, i can't see my PC in the list (normally i see 2 rows - 1 for USB connection option and 1 for WIFI connection option and my pc's name)
To see my PC in the list again i need to plug out USB cable and plug in it again.
And i thought - may be it helps to restore connection between ALVR and headset?
And it really helps. Before this trick i had to relaunch SteamVR - open video player- open video. But now - i just need to plug USB cable again and no SteamVR relaunch anymore.
So i think, may be there is some code-based solution for ALVR which can re-establish USB connection without cable plug out\in ? (I have noticed that if i use WIFI then it automatically re-establish connection and i can continue to watch video without SteamVR relaunch, and when USB wired connection - do not, i need to relaunch SteamVR - or plug out\in cable)
BTW: During all operations i had 0 packet loss (ALVR Statistics tab).
AIDA: CPU load ~20% GPU 20-56%-during video playback and 85-96% in SteamVR room.
=======================================================
Let's assume that this disconnection problem cause of encoder or wrong NVIDIA driver.
But i see a lot of twitch streamers (probably they use OBS) and no one of them do not crash every 5-20 minutes during encode operation. As i understand OBS is using encoders to stream.
So, OBS use encoders and do not crash - and ALVR use encoders and do crash.
But i'm not specialist here =)

At the and i think it will be good to have code-based ALVR solution that can re-establish wired connection (like wireless do) after crash\disconnection.
Because i think that this crash\disconnection problem is a childish problem and should be easy to solve.
