Starting from Drupal Core 11.2, the recipe unpack plugin is in core: https://www.drupal.org/node/3522189

Drupal CMS already uses it, and so should Commerce Kickstart. The benefit is that with Kickstart being a site template all dependencies of recipes should be put directly to project's composer.json file.
