hstr doesn't memorise commands reliably on MacOS Tahoe

`hstr` basically stopped working for me.

None of the commands I enter are remembered. They eventually resurface after some time, but no idea what triggers that.

e.g.

I run

```
git foobar
```

Then I run `hstr` immediately after, and the command is **not** present in the list. I can see commands from a few days ago.
