  Historically the go language didn't support package management, which means I had to be much more conservative on importing external dependencies. Now that the go supports vendoring I am considering opening the doors to new features. direnv 3 will be a big rewrite that takes that into account.

• Windows integration

  Direnv requires a distribution of bash and a usable shell. For Windows support we will be concentrating on Cygwin since it can run bash and zsh. Hopefully msys and PowerShell will be supported in the future.
