Description
Describe the issue
Since (I suspect) the latest automatic firmware upgrade of the Philips Hue Bridge (white, old model), Domoticz has started to crash repeatedly.
This began right after Domoticz version 2025.1, which had been stable for me until then.
Even after upgrading the system to Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm and installing the latest Domoticz beta 16923, the crashes continue.
Domoticz is still able to:
control all Hue lights
receive sensor values correctly (motion, temperature, contact, etc.)
…but it randomly crashes multiple times a day, and I've had to set up a watchdog via crontab to restart Domoticz automatically because the service keeps dying.
This behavior only started after the suspected Philips Hue Bridge firmware update.
Environment
Hardware: Raspberry Pi 4B
OS: Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm (clean installation)
Domoticz version: Beta 16923
Philips Hue Bridge: Old/White model, firmware updated automatically (version BSB002|1,74,1974063020)
Hue API V2 errors in Domoticz log
These errors appear frequently in the log:
Error: PhilipsHueV2: FetchDevices HTTP GET failed (https://192.168.1.2:443/clip/v2/resource/device)
Error: PhilipsHueV2: FetchContacts HTTP GET failed (https://192.168.1.2:443/clip/v2/resource/contact)
Error: PhilipsHueV2: FetchTamper HTTP GET failed (https://192.168.1.2:443/clip/v2/resource/tamper)
After these errors, Domoticz sometimes crashes.
Steps I already tried
Full OS upgrade from Bullseye → Bookworm
Clean reinstall of Domoticz
Upgraded to latest beta (16923)
Rebooted and re-authenticated Hue bridge
Network checks (bridge reachable, no packet loss)
Created a watchdog to automatically restart Domoticz when it crashes
None of these actions resolved the instability.
Expected behavior
Domoticz should remain stable and not crash when interacting with Hue V2 API, regardless of potential changes in Hue Bridge firmware.
Additional questions
Has anyone else seen repeated Domoticz crashes after the last Philips Hue Bridge firmware update?
Could the Hue V2 API have changed unexpectedly?
Thanks in advance for your help.
