Task: Continue EVDB implementation by fixing missing pricing data in database.
Problem: 9 variants were missing pricing data in the database (94.5% coverage → 154/163 variants) despite having pricing information in their YAML files. The issue was structural - pricing data was at root level instead of nested under pricing: key.
Root Cause: Build script (build-sqlite.py) expects pricing data to be nested under pricing: key (e.g., pricing.base_price), but 9 market availability files had pricing fields at root level (e.g., base_price: directly).
Solution: Restructured 9 market availability YAML files to use correct nested pricing format:
# Before (incorrect):
base_price: 33990
on_road_price: 34880
# After (correct):
pricing:
base_price: 33990
price_including_vat: 33990
vat_rate_percent: 19
on_road_price: 34880Files Fixed:

Problem: 12 variants were missing power data in the database despite the data existing in YAML files.
Root Cause: Build script (build-sqlite.py) didn't support all motor data format variations used across different manufacturers.
Solution: Enhanced build script to handle three additional formats:
- Singular
motorformat (MG, Smart): Added check formotor.power_kwandmotor.max_power_kw - Drivetrain-nested format (Alfa Romeo, Stellantis): Added extraction from
drivetrain.motors.front/rear.power_kw - Duplicate YAML keys (Kia EV9): Fixed YAML file structure where
performance:was defined twice, causing second definition to overwrite first
Changes Made:
- Updated
scripts/build-sqlite.pyto checkmotor(singular) in addition tomotors(plural) - Added support for
motor.max_power_kwvariant (Fiat format) - Added extraction logic for
drivetrain.motors.front/rearstructure (Alfa Romeo format) - Fixed
kia-ev9-long-range-awd-2024.yamlby merging duplicateperformance:sections
Result: All 162 variants now have complete power data. Database integrity: 100% ✅
Affected Vehicles Fixed:
- Smart #1 (3 variants): Pro+, Premium, Brabus
- MG4 Electric (3 variants): Extended Range + others
- MG5 Electric (2 variants): Standard Range, Long Range
- MG ZS EV (1 variant)
- Kia EV9 Long Range AWD (1 variant)
- Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica (1 variant)
- Fiat 500e Icon (1 variant)
- Database: 162 variants across 80 models from 26 manufacturers
- Germany Coverage: 100% (162/162 variants)
- Pricing Data: 94.4% (153/162 variants in DE market)
- Data Quality: 100% complete (all variants have power, range, battery, and market data)
Created scripts/check-integrity.py to validate database quality:
✓ No orphaned variants
✓ All variants have market data
✓ All variants have range data
✓ All variants have battery capacity
✓ Germany market coverage: 162/162 (100.0%)
✓ DE market with prices: 153/162 (94.4%)
⚠ Issue Found: 12 variants missing power data in database
Affected variants:
- Smart #1 (3 variants)
- MG4 Electric (3 variants)
- MG5 Electric (2 variants)
- MG ZS EV (1 variant)
- Kia EV9 Long Range AWD (1 variant)
- Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica (1 variant)
- Fiat 500e Icon (1 variant)
Root Cause: Power data exists in YAML files but may not be correctly parsed by build script. The data is nested under motors.combined.total_power_kw in YAML but the SQL schema expects total_power_kw at the variant level.
Next Steps: Update build script to correctly extract nested motor power data.
- Best Range: Mercedes EQS 450+ (782km WLTP)
- Most Affordable: Citroën ë-C3 (€22,590 in Germany)
- Fastest Charging: Porsche Taycan/Macan (270-350kW DC)
