List of Problems and Feature Requests #78

Hi trowaSoft Team,

I am heavily using trowaSoft Sequencers for my patches but have ran into some annoying problems.

Problems First:

  1. Entering numbers for PATT sequences do not set the correct patterns and output is not quantized to matching PATT values.

Please quantize the input for PATT Sequences to valid PATT Values to display. Use this same quantization on output for PATT Sequences.
I have to work around this bug since years. That's why OrangeLine PHRASE has an option to fix that (which is a hack).

  1. In GATE and TRIG modes after changing the mode the initialization is broken.

Resulting in OFF Steps have to be clicked twice to switch it to ON. After that, this step button toggles correctly.
This is just clunky and should fixed.

Now to the Feature Requests:

  1. There should be at least one more VOLT mode for uni-polar range [0:10] V

This would increase readability of the display in many of my use cases.

  1. A STEP input to set the current step on input change.

Using the Sequencer steps as a set of parameters to define parameters for patterns on different channels, this STEP input would allow selecting pattern during performing a patch.

  1. An option to get all 16 channels on one polyphonic output.

Very often I need all channels of the Sequencer as a polyphonic signal. Removing the need for 16 cables and a merge would make patches easier and improve performance.

  1. Inputs for EDIT PATT and CHNL Select.

I use your Sequencers chaining PATTs. My sequencer patches have a Follow latch making all EDIT pattern following the current play pattern. This requires additional resources to MAP the play PATT to the EDIT PATT knobs. Maybe a follow toggle button on the sequencer would also a good idea.

If different aspects of a logical channel are implemented using multiple sequencer instances, it is nice to have a single dial to select multiple sequencers displayed channel.

  1. A right click option on steps to copy/paste for all channels.

I use you sequencers to define parameters of a step on different channels. Copying a step through all channels is tedious work and spoils the fun.

  1. A multiSeq16 would be nice because you can see the NOTE for each step.

Currently I just use a voltSeq and trigSeq combo to achive that, but that cost real estate and decreases performance. This low priority.

I know this is quite a list, but still your sequencers are best for my complex sequencer patches. So it would be great to get them even more usable in my context. Pleas let me know whether and when you think about fixing and implementing the above topics.

If for any reason you can not implement these requests, I would like to ask your permission to reuse your code for building an OrangeLine Version of your Sequencers. Building one from scratch would exceed my time budgets I have for developing OrangeLine modules.

Regards

Dieter
