We're excited to share that Ray is joining the PyTorch Foundation. The PyTorch Foundation is home to some really foundational AI infra projects (including PyTorch, vLLM, and DeepSpeed), all of which are heavily used together with Ray.

A big reason for doing this is to help grow the open source community of contributors. Ray was originally designed to solve the challenges that people are facing in AI (RL was a major original motivating use case), and as a consequence, we've seen a major uptick in the Ray community (both users and contributors) over the last year.

I don't expect day-to-day project development to change. However, we will be following up with a technical charter and a little more formalization around the Ray committer approval process.
