Asian Card

My daughter-in-law decorated one of her homes with Asian art and furnishings. When I saw the challenge at Make My Monday, I  knew I needed to make a card for her. I used to make cards for a Christian school that at one time had many Asian exchange students, so I still have a lot of Asian papers.

The Sisterhood of Crafters challenged us to use a printed page background so I used book paper from a book from the University of Peking. Then I embossed an old Basic Grey panel with Chinese lanterns and added a lovely girl from Graphic 45's Bird Song papers. I sponged Almond ink on the embossed lanterns then "painted" them with the clear CTMH shimmer brush, but the shine isn't showing. Although you can see the gold foil paper on which the image is matted.

The inside was stamped with three old CTMH that words I wish for my daughter-in-law: Peace, Love, Health, and plenty of room for a short note of love and kindness. She has a serious muscle disease and many other health issues so I'll write what I am praying for her.

Thank you for visiting! May you be blessed with peace, love, and health, too!
Matthew 18:19 (WEB):
Again, assuredly I tell you,
that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything
that they will ask, it will be done for them
by my Father who is in heaven.

365 Promises (of God): Promise #230: If two of you agree in prayer, I will do whatever you ask.

Much Happiness for Chinese New Year!

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year 2015. Here's my card wishing friends around the world much happiness this year!  My son and his wife both love all things Chinese. His best friend of 25 years - since grade school - is from Korea. It was amazing that he married someone who also loved anything Asian. Since Chinese New Year celebration can last 15 days, I hope to share some more Chinese New Year's creations here in the next two weeks.

I used this week's Oriental Sketch challenge #65 from Mark's Finest Papers Speedy TV. You do have to sign up to see their challenges, but it's painless and  it's fun to see the design team's creations!

The patterned papers are from DCWV "Far East-Mat Stack"(background) and Graphic45 "Birdsong" (right panel). The gold embossing powder is my new favorite for it's fine detail and brilliance from Close To My Heart. The stamps are old: Technique Tuesday's "Far East collection" (dragon) and CTMH "Kanji Phrases."

Thank you for visiting! May God bless you with much happiness this year!

I'm sharing this card with the following challenges:
ABC Challenge - D for Die cuts
Cardz 4 Guyz #58 - Oriental
Clear It Out - theme-holiday (Chinese new year) stash-gold (embossing)
Crafting for All Seasons #96 - dies and/or punches (I used both)
Cuttin' and Stampin' #8 - anything goes (die cut scalloped circle)
Oriental Sketch Challenge #65
The Paper Shelter #191 - Animal Magic (Chinese dragon)

Blessings for Chinese New Year

Today is the beginning of Chinese New Year. This year is called the year of the horse. I mentioned before that my son, his wife, and I have a passion for all things Asian. I'm so glad that China has opened its door to the west. I've met many from China and have been fascinated by their story. My favorite was a nurse who told me that whenever they would build or repair roads, they'd have so many people working on the road it took only one day. I wish our six month road repairs in Missouri took the same approach. I've met some who have worked in China setting up businesses or factories. They've come back with a love for the Chinese people.  So I made this card in honor of these lovely people, praying that God will bless them.  I used a digital image from Digital Things. The inside sentiment is one I typed in Word.

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." 3 John 2

I'm sharing this card with the following challenges:
