Looked up definition of it...   "Glimmerglass" ~   "The vibrant reflection of sunlight on a watery surface."

"Otsego Lake NY is called "Glimmerglass" in the "Leatherstocking Tales" of James Fenimore Cooper."

Somehow, those things, don't sound enchanting or otherworldly to me.

My "Grands" couldn't help me, because Covid is in their house again.  Our older son came over and got me going.  He set me up with Instacart.   And on my own, I managed to get a grocery order!!!!!  🎈🎉🎶🎆🙌💥😉😊👌👍👏

Then I proceeded to *conquer* texting!!!   Even sent a picture, taken on my phone, in a text.  I am just so proud of myself!!!   -gigggggles-

When it Pings, that I have a text, it's like the old fun of hearing the "You've Got Mail" *music*.    Remember how much fun, that was?????????

 But must admit, the phone has easy to read and understand Instructions.

And...   Only using it, with family.   The land line is our general all purpose phone.   The 'Lively Jitterbug' is for family texting, ordering groceries, and safety, when out in the car.   Oh and power outages.   I don't want to have My Whole Life, on my smart phone.  😊

Being an American, I do not fully understand Royalty.  Nor do I want it here.

But I can appreciate people doing their Job well.  And these people do, do their Job well.

William and Catherine.

He being the Heir to the Thrown, and she will be Queen.

For now, and many years to come, they simply do their Job for "The Firm", as the Royal Family is called.

Above, an example of a ritzy occasion, the UK premier of "Top Gun."   Dressed "to the 9's" and gorgeous.

But most of their occasions are less ritzy, and entail smiling, smiling, smiling...  Making 'small talk' with loads of people..  Being compassionate when needed, and talking to children and holding babies, and doing all and anything, which each "Job for the Royal Family", calls for.

Then...... actually first, comes their own family.   Catherine had 3 babies, and each pregnancy was difficult for her.   Raising happy children, in the 'fish bowl' of Royal Life, is no small task, in itself.

She is always at her best.   Always seeming to enjoy each of her duties.   Quietly making all the 'right moves,' which being in a Royal Family demands.  (All this deferring-to- the-higher-Royal, is just soooo weird to me.   But!  It's their life.)

She never airs 'dirty laundry' in public.   Unlike Harry/Meghan, who are the *Official King and Queen of Airing Dirty Laundry in Public."

Soooo, I don't understand or want a Royal Family, but I appreciate the members of the UK Royal Family, who quietly do their duty.

Yesterday we got our hair cut, after 2 months.   Our new lady, went on a vacation, when our 1 month appointment would have been.    By 2 months, we really needed a trim!!!!!!!

The first time, she was "afraid" to use clippers, until she got-to-better-know my hair.    This time, she was fine with so doing.   Hooray!!!!   I now have a true near-buzz-cut!!!!!

Why?   Because I have been "obsessed" with nearly-buzz-cut hair styles.  -grin-   And I NEEDED to try it.  -grin-  And, hair grows!  If I don't want to "keep" it, I will not keep it.

Hot weather last week...    Bigggg T-storms last evening...   Fruit tree blossoms all washed away, by the heavy rain...   -sigh-   Such short lived Spring beauty.

We got errands done, early this morning.  Grocery store, hardware store, ice cream store, library.   Yessssss!!!!!!!!  Have the makings for 10 dinners, and we will go out to eat at sometime, during the next 10 days.

I am having a problem with ordering groceries to go.  Changed credit cards and our pharmacy and Amazon, had no trouble.   But this grocery store is giving me fits.   Soooooooooo....   Guess it's time to find another Groceries-To-Go.  -sigh-

Or shop like we did this morning.   Get items from Amazon.  And have next door daughter-in-law add some items, to her order.......   These would not be many, and she would be happy to do so.

Ahhhhh, these Glitches!!!!  They mess with our peace of mind.

🌂Nasty weather, but lovely Holiday...😊

The Memorial Day Weekend weather was rather nasty.  But we still had a lovely time.   Our oldest grand daughter and her fiance, spent the weekend at her family home...  With our son and his wife, the other son, not the one next door.

And her fiance wanted to build a desk for himself.   So he and my husband ("Pop") and our son, had a good time, building the desk.   And it still isn't finished so they will be over again soon.   Time spent in his workshop, with family, is Wonderful Time, for my husband.

And one day, our grand daughter and her mom and I, had lunch together...   It was so lovely, just to sit around the kitchen table and chat...!!!!!  (The guys ate their sandwiches, out in the work shop, and kept working!!!!!)

Next day, grand daughter and I sat on couch, and she showed me fabric swatch possibilities, for her Bridesmaids.  2 are blond, and 2 are redheads, so she is choosing one of a few light, smoky blues. <---Best way I can describe them.    It will be lovely...

And she showed me loads of suggestion pictures of their dresses, flowers, the reception tables flowers, etc., etc, etc.   Funnnnnnn!!!! 

 It was lovely to catch up with her, just the 2 of us, uninterrupted. 

She is the Grand Daughter, for whom I did "Nana Daycare", from the time she was 1 1/2 years old....!!!!!!!!  When her family moved back, to our son's home town.  

Hope your Memorial Day Weekend was lovely, in spite of the weather, if your weather was *icky,* like ours was.

Have you ever had Fiddlehead Ferns?  They are a delicious vegetable, only available in Spring, in the North East.

Many years ago, we had them, at a French Restaurant.  And since then, we look for them, in the Spring.

"If you haven’t eaten fiddleheads before, many describe the flavor as sweet like spinach, vegetal like artichoke, crisp like a waxy green bean, and kind of nutty like a mushroom. Basically, all the good tastes of vegetables furled into one."  

And here is a bit of lore, about them.  😉  "Did your mom ever tell you to eat your vegetables so you’d grow big and strong? Bet she never promised invisibility. In Europe’s Middle Ages, people believed that carrying “fern seed” would make you disappear from sight. Shakespeare even referenced these magical powers in Henry IV! Just a little post, to let you know, that I have not fully disappeared.    As I have been know to do, in the past.  😏  I am getting more things done, and enjoying this.  So I'm still "paused."  😊

Above is one of our rhubarb plants, doing wonderfully this spring.   But the thing, growing up in the middle, is bothering me.  LOL   

My husband and daughter in law next door, are letting it grow, because they want to see the flower, it is supposed to produce.   And there is a seed pod, developing, down at the bottom.   They want to see if they can plant some, and produce more rhubarb plants.  -grinnnnn-

The temps have finally gone up, out of the cool/cold range!  And I am officially in my summer cotton dresses!!!!   I am so happy to put dark corduroy dresses up stairs!  3 of the new ones (the purple, yellow, and pink) are simple patterns.  The one on the left, is a wee bit wild!!!!!!!   -grin- 

 

We love "Death in Paradise".  Which is on, Saturday evenings. 

It's my "Happy Place."  😊   When I want to calm down and forget all the Crap-O-La of living today...   I try to envision living on an Island, where the people 'march to the beat of their own drum', and the way of life is more relaxed.

And my summer cotton long flowing billowing dresses, add to the illusion.
