With the power being in the hands of Kate Winslet as madam chancellor, Matthias Schoenaerts plays her trusted and devoted and obviously psychotic chief of security,  with Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton and Hugh Grant also in the cast! The six episode series was directed by legendary movie director and film maker from United Kingdom Stephen Frears. As the slogan of the series says - her love knows no mercy! When it comes to new book adaptations, the news of the day is that Hartswood Films has bought TV rights on THE WARLOCK EFFECT Cold War thriller about a magician who flees Nazi Germany and is lured into espionage, written by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman! Their debut book, which is effectively out in the bookshops since Thursday, centers on Ludvik Weinschenk, a boy who escapes tyranny in Germany to become the most famous magician in 1950s Britain under the stage name Louis Warlock. His talent for deception attracts the attention of the British secret service and he is thrown into the world of espionage on a mission across Europe.

Flora Sandes has a street named after her in Serbia

In the light of recent armistice centennial here's a very poignant project: Mad As Birds Films will turn FLORA SANDES story into a film following the only British woman to enlist as a soldier and fight on the frontline in the First World War. It is based on Louise Miller’s book A FINE BROTHER which tells how she fought alongside the heroic Serbian Army for the Allies after moving from Victorian England to the trenches of Serbia!

FLORA SANDES joined the ambulance unit and with a group of 36 women set off for Serbia to try to aid brave Serbs who were dying in hundreds of thousands under Austro Hungarian guns and also from typhus outbreak. After that she joined the Serbian army as a private thanks to her impressive riding and shooting skills. She rose through the Serbian ranks as the only female officer in Serbian Army and was seriously wounded by a grenade in hand to hand combat. Her injuries put an end to her combat in the war but she remained near the front line to run a hospital. Later on she also wanted to fight for Serbia in WW2 but was interned by Germans. She received many medals from Serbia and is still fondly remembered there as a national heroine and a street in Belgrade is named after her.

FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS in which Meryl Streep plays the worst opera singer in history who wasn't aware of her utter lack of talent.

 WORLD'S WORST SINGER 
Directed by Stephen Frears (THE QUEEN, PHILOMENA) this true life story follows FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS, a wealthy woman from the beginning of the 20th century New York high society who used her relationships and her fortune to become an opera singer. But the problem was that she had the worst voice ever. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Hugh Grant plays St Clair Bayfield, an aristocratic English actor and  her trusted manager and best friend who was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth, and Rebecca Ferguson is his long suffering wife. BING BANG THEORY's Simon Helberg is Florence's pianist. The movie tells her story through to her 1944 Carnegie Hall concert which sold some 3,000 tickets, but she died a month later. Jenkins handled distribution of the popular tickets herself, in order to exclude professional critics from attending her performances. She also designed all of her wonderfully campy and gorgeously outrageous costumes!
