While we are waiting for his new Star Trek series, Anson Mount has finished THE VIRTUOSO movie which also stars Anthony Hopkins and Abbie Cornish.

Lionsgate will release the film later this summer. Hopkins stars as The Mentor, the head of a sophisticated group of highly skilled assassins. And at the top of them all is a hitman (Mount) who is the very best at what he does – not merely a professional, but a true artist, a virtuoso. Tortured by a past job gone wrong, and to satisfy an outstanding debt to The Mentor, The Virtuoso accepts a new assignment – but he’s given no name or photo, only a code word and the information that his target will be in a rustic diner in a dying town. With several possible targets, including a deputy sheriff, an encounter with a local woman (Cornish) threatens to derail his mission and endanger his life.

Published in 1986 and translated into 14 languages, the book chronicles the protagonist Onofre Bouvila’s journey from small-time hustler to one of the richest people in Spain. The multi-generational story is set against the backdrop of Barcelona’s social and cultural evolution at the turn of the 20th century, as the city shook off its medieval past and reinvented itself as a vibrant modern metropolis. The rise of Barcelona as a mercantile power between the two World Fairs that it hosted in 1888 and 1929 was extraordinary and serves as the perfect backcloth for this story of political intrigue, corruption, murder and romance in the way that will resonate with audiences around the world.

The story of the movie revolves around a professional assassin (Anson Mount) who must track down and kill his latest target to satisfy an outstanding debt to his mentor (Anthony Hopkins). Unlike his other “jobs,” this assignment offers precious little information. He’s given no name or photo, only that his target will be in a rustic diner in a dying town at 5:00 PM. Fresh rumours from Hollywood today say that two of the huge future projects have put their eyes on possible lead stars. Young Liam Hemsworth has allegedly received an offer from 20th Century Fox to lead INDEPEN- DENCE DAY II which will again be helmed by Roland Emmerich with the premiere date set for June 2016 which is exactly twenty years after the original! Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum and Randy Quaid are all expected to return to their original roles! Michael B. Jordan might also join the cast!

Meanwhile, over at Disney, they apparently want GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY star Chris Pratt to take over INDIANA JONES adventure franchise from Harrison Ford! He has already taken over another of their adventure series JURASSIC WORLD! The revival of Indiana Jones saga isn't expected before Disney launches their leading STAR WARS project. Frank Darabont was previously working on a possible new scenario.

'VIRTUOSO' HISTORICAL SERIES

SET IN 18TH CENTURY VIENNA
When it comes to today's television headlines, not only that the news say we are getting another historical TV series, but also the first one in recent years on classical musicians. As 'Deadline' reports, HBO has ordered a pilot episode of Elton John produced musical drama VIRTUOSO with the story set in the 18th century! With the production scheduled to begin this May in Hungarian capital Budapest, the story of the hour-long period drama will go on in 18th century Vienna, revolving around a class of young musicians attending the prestigious Academy of Musical Excellence. To be written by TRUE BLOOD's Alan Ball who will also direct and produce, VIRTUOSO already has the cast chosen: Peter Macdissi will play the lead, composer and teacher Antonio Salieri, who runs the musical conservatory. Iva Babic will play Leonid, a Russian cello prodigy. Francois Civil will play Isidoro, a Spanish guitar and flute prodigy. Lindsay Farris is Heinrich, an Austrian piano prodigy, our dear THE VILLAGE star Nico Mirallegro is Franz, an Austrian self-taught violin prodigy. Alex Lawther is Battista, an Italian castrato prodigy.

'SEACOLE' PERIOD SET BIOPIC

In period movie news, 'The Hollywood Reporter' writes today that Oscar winner Octavia Spencer will take the lead role in SEACOLE historical biopic in which the story revolves around Mary SEACOLE, a pioneering Jamaican doctress who battled prejudice to play a key role in the Crimean War, rivalling Florence Nightingale.The film, to be helmed by Charlie Stratton (IN SECRET) will reunite her with THE HELP producer Brunson Green.

Seacole was born in 1805 to a free Jamaican woman and a Scottish officer. She followed in her mother's footsteps and became a nurse versed in traditional Caribbean and African herbal remedies. When the Crimean War broke out, she applied to be a nurse for the British government, but her request was denied. She paid her own passage to the Crimean Peninsula and set up a hotel for soldiers.
