G’Day Everyone,
For the past few months, we have been listening to your feedback and reviewing some of the moderation-related areas of the server. Our main goal is to make Hypixel the best and fairest Minecraft server to play on, and we are making 2 changes we think helps us be better across the board.
▶ Chat Filter
Very soon we are going to be adding onto the way the chat filter works. This is going to affect how you will see chat that contains inappropriate words.
Currently, if a player tries to send a message containing a word on our inappropriate word list, it fails to send the message. We are changing this. Instead of blocking the message entirely, the bad word will now be starred out (****). Advertising, excessive spam and automated chat apps will continue to be blocked as usual. This system will be applied across all chat types, including personal messages, guild chat, party chat, and public chat.
For players who don't care about chat filtering or inappropriate language,
we are adding an option to disable the chat filter. This will let you see all messages that players post - at your own risk of course. The filter can be turned back on at any time.
We are making this change because we feel it's very frustrating to have your messages blocked from being sent. Everyone has a right to enjoy Hypixel without seeing inappropriate chats and messages, and at the same time we want to afford players the freedom to express themselves (without breaking the rules). We hope this change will reduce toxic chat messages and help players play and communicate fairly and freely on the server.
We will provide you with more information when it's live on the server, and look forward to hearing your feedback.
▶ Forum Warnings
We have also been making some improvements with Forum warnings. Forum warnings were previously confusing and hard to understand. We've updated these so they are easier to understand for all players, so if you (sadly) get a warning you should better understand why.
We are very excited to announce even more positive changes to the staff team soon, including changes to the way we issue punishments to make them better for everyone. We appreciate your support and feedback as we make these changes to our tools and processes.
