We can't thank the UHC community enough for their help and input on this update. We really enjoyed the feedback and tried to incorporate as much of it as possible when deciding what to do.

See below for a full list of changes, or play them live on the server right now.

▶ New Lobby
With this update comes the introduction of a brand new lobby. Much like the other new lobbies, the new UHC lobby includes join NPCs and the new leaderboards for Team/Solo Wins and Kills.

New Blitz Lobby

Hey everyone! Today we are rolling a small update to the Blitz Lobby which brings it in line with our new NPC and Hologram-driven lobby layouts. You can check it out live on the server, or read on to find out more about why we are making these changes to lobbies.

GdL8Rvq.jpg

▶ New Blitz Game Lobby
Fresh off the press is a new Blitz lobby with its brand new parkour, leaderboards and hidden secrets. As with all our new lobbies, we've tried to keep the spirit of the old lobby whilst improving its overall functionality and accessibility.

As you may have noticed we are in the process of updating several lobbies for older games. We want (and need) to do this for several reasons:
  • The new lobby format is fully translatable, which means we can change the language of things in the lobbies for both Hypixel China and non-English languages on the western server
  • Our data shows that newer players find it much easier to navigate and play games with NPCs as opposed to signs. This means new players are more likely to try your favorite older games
  • Changing from signs to NPCs and moving spawn position means on average you get into games faster. It may only be a couple of seconds, but those seconds add up to more time getting kills :D
  • Our new Leaderboard system makes it much easier for us to add new stats / leaderboards, plus is much faster, more scalable and fully translatable
  • Moving the portal farther back from spawn means no more annoying portal noise when idling and chatting
  • More flat terrain means you have more space to use fun lobby cosmetics you have unlocked like Trampolines and Diving Boards
  • Some of our older game lobbies are very old. It's nice to revisit them and fix some small long-standing design issues :)
Overall we think this new lobby improves the functionality of Blitz whilst staying true to the 'feel' of the original lobby, but we'd love to hear what you think. Check it out and let us know in the comments :)

We hope you enjoy the new lobby and look forward to some more cool stuff coming out soon! :)

Purchase Book & Improved Game Stats Links

Hey all! Just a quick update to keep everyone in the loop about some of the stuff we've been working on.

▶ Purchase Book

59a6fa4a77647.Screenshot%20from%202017-08-30%2019-46-33.png

When making a purchase on the Hypixel Store, you will now receive a book popup confirming your purchase was successful! If you're in a lobby when we process your purchase, you will see the book as soon as you get your items. If you're playing a game or offline at the time, you will see it the next time you enter a lobby.

We feel like the addition of the Purchase Book will help reduce confusion among players who aren't online at the time of the purchase. Until now, they didn't get any message in game confirming their purchase was successful, which led to some players not noticing they got the items they purchased. Additionally, the book now refers players to our Help Desk where they can ask any questions about their purchase they may have.

▶ Improved Game Stats Links

59a6ff2545d28.Screenshot%20from%202017-08-30%2020-07-58.png

It's been a while since we introduced the Game Stats links you get at the end of games. You know, the ones that you can use to show off how you killed all 11 players in your SkyWars game within a minute. Due to how we initially implemented this system on our end, it meant that the system didn't scale well as there are now just so many of you playing these games and so many game stats needing to be stored. We found that the links often expired too quickly to share them on social media to show off your amazing PVP skills.

We have now changed the way we decide when to expire links. This means that as long as people are clicking on your link to see details about your game, the link won't expire! This means that countless generations to come will get to marvel at the fact that I actually managed to win a game. (no I seriously surprised myself too, the joke I was originally going to make was about me getting a total of one kill and that being an accomplishment on its own)

What are you waiting for? Go play a game and share your victory on social media! :D

Apart from the above, we've been working tirelessly to fix countless bugs, some of them network-wide and some game specific. We couldn't do that without the bug reports you've all submitted - so if you find any issues, make sure to let us know here. We've also been working on some cool new game content including Murder Mystery v1.0, a UHC update, Duels, Zombies and more yet-to-be-announced stuff :D

Smash Heroes Bugs Update

*a figure rises from the grave*

Is this how you do a front page post? It has been a while since I've gotten to do this... :D

Hey guys, over the last few weeks we've been focusing a bit on bugs across games, and today I get to present to you a nice little list of bugs that have been fixed and addressed in the realm of Smash Heroes!

► Smash Heroes Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where players could fly during pregame
  • Fixed an issue where players were getting bullied by Spooderlings after games
  • Basically, they were put in the Bully Box
  • Added, commas, to, coin, numbers, in, scoreboards
  • Addressed an issue where the first double jump may or may not work
  • Addressed an issue where abilities wouldn’t damage enemies on slab blocks
  • Fixed an issue where Teleboom would launch players into blocks. This further fixes an issue where player could teleport into places and not take damage
  • Fixed an issue where players would be dragged against their will after death from the Botclaw
  • Added /l smash heroes for command lobby transfers
  • Fixed Sanic’s ring count having zero impact on the damage he deals using the ability
  • Fixed an issue where wins would not count towards the “Smashing” achievement
  • Fixed an issue where recent players would not show up in social menus
  • Addressed an issue where players wouldn’t receive the daily “Smash Challenge” achievement
  • Fixed an issue where players could teleport to parallel games and break things
  • Fixed an issue where players will not receive bonuses for VIP/VIP+ Players in game
  • Added 2v2 replay command
  • Added “Play Again” buttons for everyone on death and on win
  • Various Performance improvements and code cleanups to help futureproof SmashHeroes
  • Removed Spooderman’s ability to climb border walls
  • Added Anti-Border Wall Camping mechanic - Players are no longer allowed to camp in, on, or around the border
Some of these bugs are long-standing issues that I am very happy to be able to resolve now. Unfortunately the original developer of Smash Heroes has left the team, which makes bugs take longer to fix as we familiarize ourselves with the codebase.

This will be the first of several small patches we are making to address the bugs and issues in Smash. Once we are happy with where it is in terms of bugs, we will be talking (and mostly listening) to your thoughts and feedback and balancing and other things. We will also be trying to fix more bugs in other current games.

And lastly, we are in fact hiring! If you, or you know someone, who meets our criteria feel free to apply! Check out: https://hypixel.net/jobs

Enjoy :)

Update: There were a few crucial bugs that spawned from this update, you can see the fixes for those here.
