Unfortunately, chronic ankle instability can be present in up to 40% of people one year after an ankle sprain ⚠️ Risk factors for ankle sprains include a lack of ankle dorsiflexion range of motion, balance and proprioception deficits, diminished lower extremity strength, previous ankle sprain, lack of external support at the ankle, and withholding from a dynamic warmup prior to activity ❕Most ankle sprains will recover within 2-6 weeks depending on the severity of the injury.
