I Thought I'd Lost My Blog!

(This first portion was begun last night.)
I'm not sure yet that I've truly found and saved it, but here goes a short try.  I've struggled all day with this computer, and this is the first time I've been able to even get to Google in any form!  I keep losing my internet connection for one thing.  I've tried everything known to an old quilter to get things straightened out, yet to no avail really.  I may never find everything again, yet as I creep up, everything so far seems to be there, but it takes forever to get there!  AT&T may have to come to my aid tomorrow!

I haven't started last week's Block Heads block, and a new one comes out tomorrow.  I hope it is not all applique!  I've tried to settle on my fabrics for last week, but haven't gotten that done either.  In fact, I can't say I've accomplished anything all week!  It's totally disgusting how much time I'm wasting.

Just wanted to see if this would even post.  Hopefully I'll get everything figured out soon.

Hope all of you are being more successful than I am.

I'm going to try to catch up on reading blogs, IF this site will stay up.  We'll see.

(The portion below was written today.)

Well, after clicking on "Publish" last night about 11 PM, nothing happened!  I was so upset that I just shut the computer down, and started to bed, not knowing whether or not what I had written had been saved or lost.  At that point, I really didn't care!

As I walked toward the bedroom, I passed by the piano in the den.  No, that really isn't true!  I did NOT walk past the piano; I sat down on the piano bench and started playing the piano!  It is not at all unusual for me to play a few minutes each night before I go to bed.  However, it was unusual for me to play as long ag I played last night!  When I looked at the clock, it was 12:30 AM!  I had been playing an hour and a half, and enjoying every minute of it!  I must have really needed that relaxation after the disgusting day I'd had.  I already had my pj's on, and had taken my meds, etc., so I got comfortable in my bed, and didn't move again until 9 AM this morning!  It was wonderful!

Just so you know, I'm a firm believer in prayer.  So this morning after my usual Bible reading and devotionals with my blueberry muffins, I came to my computer and asked the Lord to help me get things straightened out quickly.  ( I really missed reading your quilting blogs yesterday!)  I still had major problems, but through diagnostics again and doing a restore (again), suddenly everything came up roses, and even faster than before.  I immediately said, "Thank You, Lord!"

The sun has been shining beautifully all day, we had a half-inch rain overnight, and it's predicted to be raining tomorrow afternoon and every day until Sunday.  I should have been outside pulling weeds easily in the wet yard, but no, I've been here on the computer most of the day!  So much to catch up on!  It's been fun!

Maybe tomorrow I'll sew some.  In fact, I will---at church quilting, if the rain holds off until afternoon, and I think it will.  Then when I get home, maybe I'll sew on something of  my own.

I didn't realize how addicted I had become to my computer!

Hopefully next time, I'll have some quilting news.

My Block Heads Block 7 Re-Made

When I first finished my Moda Block Heads Week 7 block, I should have trashed it at that very moment.  It was awful, and I knew it!  I just kept telling myself that by the time it gets surrounded by 39 more blocks, no one would ever notice it.  Yeah, right!  Wrong!

Yesterday I decided to re-make the block, using different fabrics, and hand appliqueing the flowers.  I'm not sure I made a great improvement, compared to everyone else's, but at least I think maybe I can live with this one.   It still is far from perfect, but I like my fabrics much better.

I wonder how many quilters just start cutting strips and sewing them together into log cabin blocks to surround a panel, without putting any thought into how those blocks will fit around the panel?   One good thing --- I was using my Marti Michell Log Cabin Ruler, and the blocks all look good, but the size I was making is not going to work!  Now I have to do what I should have done to begin with; I have to get my pencil and paper and plan it out!  The eight blocks I made today may be the beginning of a totally different project for another time.  Not too smart, was it?  (Sometimes I do really dumb things lately!  In fact, I've been doing dumb things quite often lately!)

Ruth, it was great to read the shout-out to you from Lori of Humble Quilts and to see her pictures of your quilts and home.  Everything looked beautiful!

Thanks to all of you who have left sweet comments on my last few blogs.  I've been neglectful in replying to each one of you.  I do want you to know I appreciate all your comments.  This old lady can certainly use all your encouragement and kind words!  Thanks so very much.

Have a Happy Mother's Day with family Sunday!

Hey, I'm Caught Up on My Block Heads Blocks!

It's late tonight, so I'll make this short and sweet!

Week 7:  I'm not at all proud of this one!  Bad fabric choices; poor machine applique!  I should have chosen some solids rather than all florals from the same line, and I should have done the applique by hand!  Maybe I'll re-do it someday; maybe not.

Week 8:   Fairly easy, and I'm fairly pleased.
CORRECTION:  THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN LABELED AS WEEK 9.

Week 9:  Lots of little seams, but I'm fairly pleased with this one too.
CORECTION:  THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN LABELED AS WEEK 8.

Life continues to be wild and busy around here!  Health-wise, I'm holding on --- (literally, to my cane and everything I get near!); I just can't seem to stay up with everything and everywhere I'm expected to be!  I'm starting to practice saying "NO!" to more people and things!  Luckily, I've been home alone all day today.  'Twas nice, and the sun was shining beautifully, and not too windy!
