Prashanth Prakash reposted thisPrashanth Prakash reposted thisThursday’s listing marked a special milestone for Geetansh and the RentoMojo team in their 11-year journey so far. A fitting moment to pause, take it all in, and reflect on everything it took to get here. We spent the evening celebrating the people behind the story: the team, families, co-investors and friends who have all played a part in shaping Rentomojo over the years. There were stories from the early days, familiar faces coming together again, and a memorable performance by Lucky Ali that made it an evening to remember. As Rentomojo steps into its new home, we’re excited for the next chapter. #AccelFamily • Prashanth Prakash • Geetansh Bamania

Getting to know people. Learning your way around a new city. It helps to come back to somewhere you can simply be yourself. RentoMojo helped make that possible. Somewhere to settle in, while the rest of life was still settling down. Here’s to everything you’ve built, and all that’s still to come. #AccelFamily • Prashanth Prakash • Geetansh Bamania

Prashanth Prakash shared thisIn 2015, Geetansh Bamania sat across from us and asked a question none of us had heard before: what if people rented furniture instead of buying it? We didn’t have an answer. What I remember most, though, was that he was seeing something the rest of us weren’t. He had noticed India beginning to change: people moving cities for work every few years, families becoming smaller, and ownership starting to feel like a burden rather than a given. Back then, this felt like an edge case. Today, it’s simply how many of us live. For a long time, that conviction had to run ahead of the numbers. By 2020, the numbers were starting to catch up. Furniture was lasting almost twice as long as we had expected, which meant a single sofa could serve renters for ten years, not just a couple. The idea was beginning to prove itself. That combination of seeing something early and staying with it long enough for the world to catch up—is what has always stood out about Geetansh and the team. Congratulations, RentoMojo team. It has been a privilege to watch this idea become a company, and the company become what it is today.Prashanth Prakash shared thisToday, RentoMojo goes public. A decade ago, Geetansh Bamania saw people moving cities, taking new jobs and setting up homes without knowing how long they would stay. Buying everything for each new beginning didn’t always make sense. Renting offered another way. Making renting easy took years of work. The team built four connected operations: subscriptions, asset management, refurbishment and logistics. Getting them to work together meant people could spend less time setting up a home and more time settling into it. As Rentomojo marks its IPO, we look back at the early conviction and the work that followed. #AccelFamily • Prashanth PrakashA Decade of Owning Less, Living More: Celebrating Rentomojo's IPOA Decade of Owning Less, Living More: Celebrating Rentomojo's IPOAccel in India

Prashanth Prakash reposted thisPrashanth Prakash reposted thisIndia’s DeepTech ecosystem is at an inflection point. With rapid advances in AI, semiconductors, space technology, robotics and advanced manufacturing, the opportunity is immense. But beyond the headlines and funding numbers, an important question remains: How much of India’s DeepTech potential is translating into real-world impact? What is the reality on the ground? Where are we seeing genuine breakthroughs, and where does the hype outpace the substance? What will it take to move from promising research and prototypes to globally competitive technologies and companies? At IvyCap Day 2026 – Techtonic Shift, we will explore these questions in a fireside conversation on “India’s DeepTech Journey: Hype vs. Reality”. Prashanth Prakash, Founding Partner, Accel India, will share his perspective on India’s DeepTech opportunity, the evolution of the ecosystem, and what it will take to build enduring DeepTech companies from India. Prashanth Prakash reposted thisPrashanth Prakash reposted thisSrikanth Iyer, Co-founder & CEO of HomeLane, started the company to give homeowners a better interiors experience than the unorganized, unpredictable one. To deliver on that promise, Homelane said yes to nearly everything a customer wanted: flooring, plumbing, kitchens, the full scope of a home. But interiors is an operationally complex business, and that complexity was starting to show up in the one place it couldn't, the customer's experience. Srikanth compares what came next to a table tennis match from his university days, down 4-10, the point where most players start playing it safe. Instead, he says, that's when you have to attack. What Homelane chose to cut, and what they chose to promise instead, became the decision the entire brand runs on today. Watch the full episode of #InflectionPoint to hear how a narrower promise built the interiors brand Homelane is today. My secretary buzzed me. “Sir, Aakash Verma (name changed) is here to see you.” I looked up from whatever spreadsheet was ruining my day, and drew a complete blank. Aakash Verma. I turned the name over once, twice, waiting for a face to attach itself to it, and nothing came. She added, a tad defensively, “He says he’s a very old friend of yours. One of your closest, actually.” That made it worse. Now I wasn’t just failing to place a visitor, I was failing to place one of my closest friends, in front of an audience, even if an audience of just one. I walked into the meeting room, and saw a 50 year old with the swagger of someone who had never once doubted his welcome. “Arre, Chuski!” I exclaimed — and just like that, thirty-five years fell away in a single syllable. Of course I knew Chuski. I had known Chuski since we were sixteen, since a summer that involved a great deal of cricket and a great deal of kala-khatta ice-golas (hint — that’s how he got his name), and I had known him so completely, so wholly, that I had genuinely forgotten he had another name at all. Aakash Verma was a stranger. Chuski was blood. If you grew up anywhere in urban India in the nineties, you already know exactly what I’m talking about. We are, as a species, consititutionally incapable of calling our closest friends by the names their parents gave them. In school, we invent an entirely separate civil registry — one built out of lunchboxes, stage fright, school plays gone wrong, and the sheer boredom of teenage boys — and that registry overwrites the original. So we had Fuski, condemned for life by the brand name stencilled on his lunchbox. We had Undi, sentenced for the crime of speaking ordinary Telugu in front of Delhi schoolboys. We had Popat, who froze mid-recitation on a stage and has been paying for it ever since. And decades later, in a Bangalore office lobby, I watched a perfectly good business card — my actual name, my actual designation, a real blue-chip company — fail spectacularly at getting a classmate we called Pedro out of a meeting. My nickname got him out in ten seconds flat. Mine, for the record, was Chimney. I played a train engine in a school play. The costume came off in an hour. The name didn’t come off for thirty years, and counting. On that particular school WhatsApp group (I changed seven schools) — I am still Chimney. I write about why an old friend will happily ignore your business card, your job title, and every serious, hard-won thing you’ve built since the age of sixteen — and why the crudest possible things we say to each other (“Oye, @#$%, ab tak zinda hai?”) are often the closest thing to “I love you” that Indian men ever manage to say out loud. Prashanth Prakash liked thisPrashanth Prakash liked thisIt's been more than a month since we started busking on Church Street with #TheMusicScene. In that time, more than 30 independent artists have performed in Kannada, Konkani, Tulu, Hindi, English, and Malayalam. Beyond singers, we saw percussionists, didgeridooists, loop station artists and other talented instrumentalists join us to showcase their talent. That mix, on an open street, is exactly what we set out to create. Centuries ago, when formats like Jathre, Tamasha, Therukoothu, and Bhaona spread across the subcontinent, music lived in the open. It belonged to whoever was standing there. Over time, through legal barriers and neglect among others, it walked off the streets and into studios, small venues, and bedrooms. The Music Scene is UnboxingBLR's mission to bring it back out. Thirty days in, here's what the street has taught us: - Hosting in a public space is harder than any indoor event. The street guarantees you nothing. - Weather and legalities decide whether the event happens at all, before talent even enters the picture. - Sometimes you cancel at the last minute, and you learn to be okay with it. The crowd is never the same twice. What lands one Saturday falls flat the next. - Performing and holding a crowd are two different skills. Not every gifted artist can do the second. And on a street, the second is everything. And busking itself still has to earn its place in people's minds. That respect won't come from one event. It comes from saying it, again and again, until a city treats music in its open spaces as normal. We're only getting started. #TheMusicScene #UnboxingBLR #Bengaluru #Busking Hari Menon Prashanth Prakash Koushik B S Kevin Noel Sequeira Sajesh Nair K Shashwat Kumar Prajuwal Panicker Rajay Naik Nolan Pinto Pooja Rajkumari

Our latest edition of the TiE–Mint Thought Leadership Series is now live. In “Unlocking India’s Next Wave of Startup Investment,” Prashanth Prakash , TiE Charter Member and Founding Partner at Accel India, explores what it will take to finance the next phase of India’s startup ecosystem particularly the deeptech sector. The piece highlights the growing role of corporates and GCCs, the Indian diaspora, and growth capital in bridging the funding gaps between early-stage innovation, scaling, and eventual public-market opportunities. For founders, investors and ecosystem builders, it offers an insightful perspective on how India can build not just more deeptech startups, but companies capable of scaling and compounding over the long term. Prashanth Prakash liked thisPrashanth Prakash liked thisIt has been eleven years since a 26-year-old walked us through why he had taken a personal loan to furnish a rented flat in Mumbai - and why millions of other young Indians would rather not. Back then he was delivering the mattresses himself (first few orders on his birthday), financing beds with friends-and-family money, in a category that did not exist. Today RentoMojo is India's first listed rental economy company. On behalf of Chiratae Ventures, it has been a privilege to have co-led the very first institutional round in this company, and to have sat in the room for most of the eleven years since - the good quarters and the ones nobody writes about. What I will carry from this journey is not the growth, it is the years when there was none. Geetansh's perseverance through those years, and his refusal to accept a bad year as a final answer - quietly, without drama, for multiple years - is the reason there was a bell to ring this morning. Congratulations Geetansh Bamania and the entire RentoMojo team. You did not just build a business - you built a category that did not exist when we met. And I have no doubt, this is just a beginning! :) Thank you for letting us be there from day one. 🙏 Chandraneel Polavarapu Chiratae Ventures Sudhir Sethi TCM Sundaram Ranjith Menon Anoop N

The VC Fellowship

HealthTech is one of those spaces where the right conversation can open up an entirely new lens on the market. That’s exactly what we saw in Bengaluru on August 12. The VC Fellowship , in partnership with PeerCapital, brought together a room of HealthTech founders, investors and industry leaders for an intimate evening of conversations around the sector. We were joined by Shashank ND, Co-founder of Practo, for a candid conversation on building Practo, his entrepreneurial journey and how he sees the HealthTech ecosystem evolving. The discussion went beyond his journey - with founders in the room asking questions around: • Building and scaling in healthcare • Navigating the complexities of the HealthTech ecosystem • Emerging opportunities across the sector • Working with investors and finding the right strategic collaborations What stood out was the quality of the exchange. Founders brought real questions from the ground, investors brought their perspective, and the conversation kept moving between what is happening today and what could be built next. That’s the kind of room The VC Fellowship aims to create - bringing together people across the ecosystem and making space for conversations that can lead to ideas, partnerships and opportunities. With PeerCapital, The Healthtech Collective and AIBoomi, and Ankur Pahwa, Karthik Prabhakar, Rohit M A and Joslin Jose. Special thanks to Rainmakers Workspace & Paneesh Rao for being an amazing host. 𝐄𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐭 📌 In the latest Market Pulse, Nandita Chauhan, Director - Investments at Stride Ventures, explains that while venture debt is fundamentally commercial capital, impact-oriented businesses often operate with longer infrastructure build-out cycles. Stride’s founder-first approach focuses on understanding business models and structuring debt around real operating milestones, ensuring it does not unintentionally affect capex-heavy rollout, geographic expansion into underserved markets, climate impact, or building compliance-grade supply chains. As the market scales, venture debt is increasingly becoming a normalized, repeatable instrument. She highlights that debt works best when it adapts to the realities of the business it supports. Instead of relying purely on traditional covenants, structures such as milestone-based drawdowns, flexible amortisation, and growth-linked triggers ensure that capital enables scale, not slow it down. From a lender’s perspective, the key constraint is the predictability of revenue and governance maturity, along with whether unit economics are trend-stable, governance reliability & transparency, and whether customer acquisition and retention are observable and governable. She further notes that the most successful outcomes happen when venture debt works in tandem with equity investors, complementing rather than replacing them. This enables companies to extend runway, finance working capital, or fund expansion without constantly returning to equity markets. Engagement with institutions such as DPIIT and the broader regulatory ecosystem has helped to further enhance and create a supportive environment for startups building impact-driven solutions. As sectors such as climate infrastructure, EV supply chains, battery lifecycle platforms, and resource-efficiency solutions begin to show stable unit economics and predictable demand, they are becoming structurally debt-ready. Notably, Stride Ventures recently became the first private credit fund from India to secure sovereign backing from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), reflecting growing international confidence in the homegrown venture and growth credit platform. 🔗 Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gbvKvkQ3

India’s venture ecosystem is shifting - from backing startups to building them. For too long, the existing system relied on incubators, accelerators and legacy institutions tied up with traditional faculty who are challenged with limitations in commercializing an idea. VenturEdu was built to fill exactly that gap - a residential venture school where idea-stage founders co-build with investors, not educators. Our founder Kulmani Rana spoke to Inc42 on this shift and on why AI is acting as a productivity multiplier for the next generation of founders. Full piece linked in comments.

The fund plans to back early to growth stage companies working across health services, pharmaceuticals, biotech, and health technology, with an emphasis on long term value creation rather than quick exits.
