How does the game fit the theme?
The theme "Risk it for the biscuit" was used for the game's narrative, the precision jump game mechanic that punishes the player if they're not too careful, and the Biscuit checkpoint mechanic that will be helpful to keep your progress, but are you willing to risk the jump?

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

I found the jump mechanic really hard to get to grips with, but that's not such a bad thing as it brings something a bit different to this genre.  If you're working on some visual indicators, even better.  Graphics and sound worked ok too. Good job and good luck in the jam

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for playing our game! I already finished adding a visual indicator and waiting for the jam to end so I can add the new build 😄Hopefully this will help the players and let them enjoy the game a bit more.

Simple concept executed well. A game fitting for a jam. I like the cutesy sprites. The thumbnail title text is also well done.
(The footsteps sound sounds like the vine boom.)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing our game! Hope you had fun 😄

It's quite challenging but very rewarding! I got a bit past floor 1, but then died on a red bit! The controls are tricky, but once it clicks you really can get the hang of it and it's really satisfying to get three perfect jumps in a row! my only suggestion would be that a sort of jump power meter to help you predict how much power you have stored up. overall nice job!

Developer

Thanks for playing 😄❤ I'm already working on a visual indicator for the jump and it'll be available once the jam ends 😁

Very nice art. The jump mechanic make the game very challenging. But I like to play it.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it 😄❤

I love space stories and pixel art—this is fantastic. The jumping mechanic in the game is really innovative—kudos to you!
I also think adding a visible UI bar would make it easier to control.

Developer

Hey glad you enjoyed it❤😄 .... and yep 😅 will add the visual indicator as soon as the jam ends ❤ Thanks for playing!

Cool game! I think my feedback would be similar to others about the jump mechanic, but it felt unique! I loved and hated it haha maybe the beginning could be less punishing allowing the player to get a bit farther. After reaching the first biscuit I would fall back to the bottom sometimes and that made the check point not really feel like a check point. The art was great- very cohesive, keep up the great work 👍

Developer

Ohh that's  true what you said about the first biscuit... I'll see what I can do about it 😄 Thanks for playing our game ❤

Couldn't really get very far cause I found the lack of visual feedback on charging the jumps meant that I had little control over where I landed. I like what it was going for, and the art is nice. With some polish, this could be pretty fun. Like Jump King but without the focus on being a rage game. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

But... I want you to be enraged while playing the game😬 Hehe jk jk... thanks for playing our game 😄❤

The limitation for the jumping offered another look to the game i loved it, Great work!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😁❤

A platformer where you can't change direction in mid-air is a really interesting game mode. It's so painful and funny when I accidentally jump all the way back to the start by myself. Without a power meter like the one mentioned in other comments, the only way to succeed is through practice, which makes it a really fun challenge!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! I agree about the visual indicator. Will add it as soon as the jam ends 😁

Tough little platformer! I liked the limitation with the jumping (not being able to move mid jump) - it really added the challenge to it. Great level design as well built around the jumping mechanic.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Hope it wasn't too difficult 😁😁

Submitted(+2)

that was really hard for me to play :D. but i really liked the idea of that jump mechanic. good job!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😁

Neat take on a platformer that's way trickier than it looks. I think it's a unique mechanic that can result in some interesting level designs. Would suggest adding a meter that can show the player how charged up their jump will be when they release it. I hope you keep fleshing it out!

Developer

Will do! Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Great concept! I found it quite challenging to gauge the jump charge power. It would be helpful if there were audio or visual cues (like character animation changes) to indicate the charge level. Great work!

Developer

Will do ! Thanks for playing ! 😁❤

Looks and sounds really nice! But I'm not the best at platforming, so tbh I struggled to get very far. Adding some kind of visual indicator for the jump power would definitely help. Overall though, really good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! Yes we will add it as soon as the jam ends ❤

I didnt play jump king so i can compare, but this game is too hard for me. So i expect no airmovement is intentional, but not knowing how far i jump while i press down the jump button is a lot of try and error. Also i dont know why i can jump straight up, if i have no airmovement.

The visuals are cute, and the soundeffects fitting

Gj on finshing the game on time!

Developer(+1)

Hello, and thanks for playing our game! As many devs suggested, we will add a visual indicator as soon as the jam ends 😁So as for being able jumping straight up, it was not used properly in our case. Jump King has fixed position cameras unlike our camera that follows the player. In Jump King, being able to jump straight up gives the player the ability to peak onto the next level safely. We had a moving camera so being able to jump straight up wasn't utilized well in gameplay. Hope I explained it correctly😅

Thanks again!

Very entertaining! I know many people have already said this, but I really think a barbell accompanied by a loading sound to see the accumulated force of your jump would be great.

Developer

Thank you for playing! And yes, we'll be adding it as soon as the jam ends😁

Submitted(+2)

Jump King is a great game and I think you've got inspired by it. I think, you could add an option to see how much of the "jump power" have bee accumulated, to make it a little bit easier ( just as an option, for the less skillfull gamers, like myself).

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for playing our game! Yes, I will add a UI element that represent the jump power 😁

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

Very fun game. the jump mechanic is very well done. :D

I would have loved to have a bar which visualises how much "jumping power" you have.

Developer

Heyy thanks for playing our game😁 and yes we thought  of adding something like that but we didn't go with it, due to the lack of time and we thought it would take away the risk factor. But we might add it later on😁 Thanks for the input❤️

great fun game.

Developer

Thanks!

A very unique take on the jumping mechanic! I really like how strategic it was to make each jump. The art is nice and the sounds fit it very well. Overall a great entry to the jam!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, Glad you liked it! <3

Developer

Thank you! Glad you had fun 😁
