Ranked from 34 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
You're a cargo pilot with nerves of steel, flying through enemy-filled skies.

Blast incoming fire with your ship’s guns, then hop out to grab crates from sketchy floating platforms.

Docking with platforms is risky because if you make one slip, it's a long drop to nowhere. Think fast, fly smart, and don’t fall!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Code, assets and background music were created during the jam. Sound FX are royalty free.

How many people worked on the game?

Dude it's really challenging to complete all the 6 boxes, but I managed after a few rage moments lol. I just wish a restart button, cause to someone who's seeking the 6 boxes there's no point in wait the entire trip if I already lost a box, I kept refreshing the page over and over. Another thing I didn't like was the lack of feedback to damage and the enemy planes being immortal. Other than that, you had a good idea with the platforms to exit the plane, I can imagine that evolving in a bigger project, congrats for that, it's cool to jump from the plane and go back to it, really satisfactory, the controls are simple to use, congrats for that as well. Visuals are cool and I liked the music. Well, congrats for your game, in summary, my 3 suggestions are: add a restart button, visual feedbacks for damage and allow the player to shoot the enemy planes.

The art style is perfectly made, the sfx feels so satisfying! and the idea of having to run off to a platform is such a good idea. However i felt the movement felt off, making it a bit hard to enjoy. While the idea of the gameplay is amazing, i cant help but feel it wasnt really polished, i didn’t really get why i couldn’t shoot a ship, and the bullets hitting me didn’t have any impact. Also it felt slow at times!

Overall great work, would love to see polished and made into a larger game!

The dotted pattern on the background textures brings a really unique look to the art.  I knew there must be some established name for this kind of close-up printing pattern so I looked it up.  Apparently, these are called "Ben Day dots".  I assumed this was a comic book invention but according to Wikipedia, it was developed way back in 1879!  Suffice to say, you'd be justified in calling these graphics "old school". :)

Gameplay wise, it felt a bit off to only be able to shoot enemy bullets and not the ships themselves.  With this limitation in place, I never really felt like I had a good way to protect my cargo tail beyond one or two crates.

I like the "ghost ride the ship" idea.  It would be interesting to explore more complex platform options in the future.  The ones in the game pretty much let you get back on your ship whenever.  One can imagine larger, more complex platforms and maze-like structures that really put the pressure on to decide whether to take the risk or stay onboard.

Thank so much for all the great feedback! I was definitely trying to mimic the look of a vintage printed comic, so I'm glad that came across. The game definitely needs more ways to defend against crate loss, and my hope is to expand out the variety of enemies, power-ups and obstacles if there's enough interest in the overall concept. Really appreciate you taking the time to play!

Like others said. The idea of getting out of the ship and returning was very clever! Nice risk and reward mechanic. It kept the gameplay engaging and fun.

I can see you can expand that idea into having mini challenges to increase the risk.

Wonderful, simple little game! Really neat take on taking risks. I would love to see more levels and further development. I really loved this one, great job!!

This is one of my favorite game on this jam so far! The idea is so simple, yet soo good! Thea art style and visual effects are unique. I can imaging people playing this game on a retro arcade cabinet right in the bar and having a lot of fun!

What a clever idea,  I thought I would be able to destroy those ships, but it was entertaining.

Wow, this is sooo hard 😅 best I could manage is 3/6. But well done, great graphics, good design, solid controls. I just wish I could shoot the enemy ships and not just their bullets. Well done, creating such a polished gem in such a short time!

Fun concept with exiting the ship but sadly could not play for long, using arrow keys on a 60% keyboard is quite difficult because of the space key, FN button and space cancel each other out. Overall the style is really nice reminds me of those plane shooter games I played on my moms phone when I was a kid, you really captured that feeling, good job!

Very unique game mechanic with the getting in and out of the ship mechanic! Btw i found a bug where if you reach the drop off point and prevent 1 of them from going in it soft locks the player. Nice work tho <3  *this game was live reviewed here:  twitch.tv/gratefulllyivory (will post vod after stream)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing and reviewing it on your stream. Really appreciate the kind words! I did spot that bug, but unfortunately a bit too late to fix it. Thanks for the heads-up though!

Submitted(+1)

Right on! Im not sure if you used unity or godot but in godot the ez fix would just have a global boundary behind the drop off point collision area that the player runs into and guarantees the reset instead of it relying on checking for cargo not dropped off(assuming thats what caused the bug).

nice music and sfx really fits the game, the art is nice too and so is the idea, the game play though is imo a little too hard in the not good way, maybe the ability to boom ships would help that, and perhaps an infinite going game with highscores would have fit the idea better. overall very solid entry though!

Nice visuals, it was hard to defend my ship while it was docked at a platform though.  I really like the idea of having to get off your ship to grab the cargo!  Maybe adding more ways to defend yourself would help.  Good job!

2 games in one! The whole aspect of leaving the ship aspect is super cool! I loved the challenge. I wish you could shoot down enemy ships rather than just their shots, that would've felt a bit more intuitive, but excellent game! I would love to see this idea expanded. Even a party game like this would work really well.

Nice looking game and fun! I did find the text instructions a bit distracting, I didn’t really read them at first, then later realised I needed to control the guy when he got off the ship. Maybe it could flow better with a quick demo or a pointer arrow showing where to dock, and then prompt you to take control of the guy. Just a thought might just be me though!

Wow this game is beautiful! I absolutely love the art style with the printed paper like aesthetic. Fun gameplay as well, with the novel twist of being able to leave your ship. Great job

Good job! Unique and beautiful art and music and a cool mechanic having to adjust between walking and shooting!

Thanks for playing! Appreciate the kind words :)

This a cool idea, and need to be more iterated upon. You can make a great game with this foundation. I think the hardest part will be difficulty adjustment, coz right now I think this is too hard, I couldn't get more than 2 cargos.

The cargos makes the ship's tail longer and easier to hit, the enemy ship being indestructible also makes it harder, but at the same time it should be challenging also, many factors could be discussed, but its a good problem to have.

Anyway, I have fun, nice visual aesthetics, great game, keep on developing!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the encouragement and great feedback! My original idea was that the tail of crates would introduce a growing risk as the game progressed, but you're right that it seems like there should be more ways to protect them. Really appreciate that you took the time to play and share your thoughts!

Reminds me of my childhood playing these space type games. Was difficult but fun, wish it was a bit longer and if you could upgrade your ship. Good Job though.

Developer(+1)

Really appreciate the feedback! I had planned a longer stage with more platforms and enemies, but the time crunch led me to focus on a short-but-polished proof of concept. I'd love to expand it later, so your input is super helpful!

really loved the game visuals are too good😍 game has a good potential

It's a cool game, I'm very surprised... especially since it was made alone... the game has a very nice visual... special respect for using the game maker!!
