How does your game fit the theme?
The game has a looping weapon mechanic. Also when the level is defeated, you can start "loop mode" which is basically speedrunning the level to beat your best time

I loved the art style for this game, especially the player character art and animations for the mushroom head moving when jumping and falling to make it look squishy. The idea of enemies becoming jump pads when you kill them was pretty cool. I did get a situation where killing an enemy in the wrong place left me in an impossible possition where I could neither continue nor die so I had to restart (see screenshot). Maybe this was intentional and the challenge was to be more accurate with the timing of killing the enemy. I liked the idea of weapons cycing to implement the loop theme.
Overall a fun game :)
I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed my game! 🙏
I also soft locked myself with a mushroom enemy during play testing and got most of the soft locks fixed during play testing but apparently there still are few that got past! Things that happen when on a tight deadline 😱
Big thanks for the feedback! 👌
Once I took a moment to read the obvious instructions I was able to defeat an enemy and move on. Cool fighter style game mechanic. Please feel free to play and rate my submission as well!
This is the first Jam where I had the Controls visible in the game, I hoped that would help people understand the somewhat complicated controls :D
Thanks for playing! I will check out your game too! 💪
Neat little idea, kinda cool to have the rotating combo of movement-based attacks. The mushroom dude is adorable
Thanks! I wish I had a little bit more time to Polish the Weapon system and the overall smoothness of the movement.
The mushroom visual theme idea came from bouncing on Mushrooms in other platformers and I am happy how the characters turned out👍
love the take on the theme, the movement was so smooth and satisfying! the tutorial is clear and I got the hang of it pretty quickly the enemies were good but i think they could be more challeging next time :) but still such nice aestetheic .
Overall really fun!
If you would like to try out my friend's game its here! - https://aviv-youker-harel.itch.io/orbit-express
Thanks for the feedback! ❤️
I had a plan to bring in more interesting enemies and even had most of the logic already coded, but unfortunately I ran so tight on time that I just had to quickly throw everything . Too bad I had to cut it short 😐
But I am glad you enjoyed at least some of it and I am loving the community in this Game Jam! Good luck to your friend with their game! 💪
I enjoyed bouncing around the place on the mushrooms. The looping of the weapons, while a cool idea, didn't feel like it impacted play much outside of being a bit annoying when trying to figure out which direction my attack is going to be in. I think there's a lot of cool potential here for a speedy platformer where players need to get into a rhythm of cycling through weapons and adapting on the fly, however I think it could be explored in different ways if you pursue this mechanic further.
You are completely right!
I had scoped the project to be done from Thursday to Sunday deadline, but for personal reasons I had to cut it short. Causing me to not have enough time to add Sounds, Polish the Game feel and Make the Level Layout more interesting (with shortcuts that need specific weapons and with more interesting mushroom placements)
But big thanks for the feedback! ❤️
Nice idea with the weapons. I tried cheesing it by using the up sword to go backwards through the goal, but couldn't beat your score...
Big thanks for trying it out!
